I much prefer Chambliss because he is mobile and has a live arm. I expect he will need a lot of seasoning but that's why we have JB. I wouldn't hate Tribisky but I do believe we need to draft a QB after the 1st round this year.
People will be scared bc of his height, or lack thereof (6’1) but the kid is a gamer, that’s for sure.

As opposed to Zack Wilson? He wouldn’t last 2 games as this offense is currently constructed.
Say what you want about JB but he’s one tough SOB. He is NOT a qb that can carry a team week after week especially with a patchwork o-line a 4th string running back and crappy defense.
But then again what qb could?
Best bet is to hire an offensive minded HC who can talk Murray into staying. No other option is even remotely better.

Fernando Mendoza.
Patrick Mahomes.
Gardner Menshew.

Yeah, that's a solid QB room.

Start Mahomes while coaching up Mendoza...let uncle Rico run the practice squad...he's versatile.

About mid season pull a Wisenator and start Mendoza, but bring in Mahomes every time you need a two minute offense...

Like Wis did with Matty and Kurt.

That's a perspective of a person "wanting" the "Right now" not a person thinking about the long term health of the team.

Unless we want our 3-5 yr rebuild to advance to a 7-10 yr rebuild, we need to cut bait with kyler.

It's not you baby, it's me...this just ain't gonna work out... no point in prolonging the inevitable....rip the band aid off fast.....
We can't start to heal until we stop taking damage.

Zach Wilson getting passed on the depth chart by both Jarret Stidham and Quin Ewers forces me to categorize him in the Rosen tier of reclamation projects. But beggars can't be choosers and we're hoping for a miracle.

Chambliss, Jacoby, Lance, Willis, Levis, Davis Mills, Jameis. Lots of options, either you find a gem, or more likely, find a tank commander.

If Jacoby is on the roster I will be very interested to see him start. If he looks significantly worse we will immediately know that the new coaching staff is bad.
Actually Davis Mills may be one of those reclamation projects that could work. He played well in Stroud's absence this year. If you read the comments the coaches and players had about Stroud after their game yesterday, they seem committed to Stroud. Is Mills a FA?

Any talk of a rebuild ended the day that Bidwill fired JG.

I feel like you could do a lot worse than Jameis as a one year bridge guy. It would at least be fun - lol.

Something like:
Jameis
Random journeyman backup (Brissett if he's willing to stay, I guess)
Rookie pick in round 3 or 4 (a Chambliss/Beck type) that you can kick the tires on late in the year but not feel bad moving on from in favor of a QB in round 1 next year

Neither of them are starting NFL QB’s. The latter isn’t even a backup.
Trinidad profiles as well as plenty of backup QBs. His draft profile is way better than guys like Dobbs or Ridder were coming out.

JB, unknown vet, Drew Allar (4th round pick).

Well, ideally Mendoza, but assuming that can't happen.
You have kinda turned the corner on Allar... I know it's more "lack of options" than "choice" ...but i honestly believe that with a strong QB coach Drew can develop into a decent nfl starter..ain't talking Brady or Mahomes...but I think he could be a guy that gets us a shot at the playoffs most years with a decent roster around him.
But if we bring him in I might consider keeping him as "emergency only" for the first half of the season at least...aim for handing the team to him in 27...maybe get him some PT in December to get a look at how it's coming together for him....gotta know something before the next draft.
If he is still a question mark...I'm sure brisket and a rookie HC will have us picking in the top 15 so we can maneuver if needed to dip into QB again

Not at all. A few years ago, I saw him as a sure-fire 1st rounder. Then the QB killer Franklin did what he always does and killed his QB. He's still got potential, but not high round potential. I could maybe see picking him in the 3rd. Maybe.
