Jacoby. Unless Beck sees arm strength improvement 2 years removed from his UCL surgery he is just not it. He's a reckless decision maker who wants to attack downfield, but doesnt have the arm strength for it.

The QB Beck comps to best in the NFL right now is 33 year old Carson Wentz, who we saw play for the Vikings last year.

I hear you, but I think this take is too strong. What about Russell Wilson? What about Tom Brady? There are guys who can play who weren’t first rd picks. Heck we have one in our division who is Purdy darn good.

I’m not ready to make bold predictions about Beck but I wasn’t mad about him being drafted in the 3rd.
agree.
had Beck not been injured he would have been a top 5 pick in the 2025 draft... the only reason he wasnt a first round pick in the 2026 draft is over analysis and recency bias

...much of the league insists a player has to have "X" number of games before he can make the transition to the pro game....and Carson Beck is the only player in the draft that actually has that number of games.

The only reason he wasn't a 1st round pick in 2026 is because he wasn't that good on the field. Scouts don't have recency bias. They put a grade on the player.

I think it is between Jacoby and Gardner. I don't believe that a 3rd round rookie will be handed the keys on day one. The Vets on this team deserve to at least have the week 1 starting QB be the one who gives them the best shot to win and that is Brissett at this point.

The Dumpster Birds just got strong armed by a 1-11 backup QB to give him more money.

This franchise continues to set new lows as a football team.

I voted Beck because, well, I’ve been following the Cardinals for many, many years and I can tell you that players who do not excel do not stick around long. Especially those who ask for a lot more money. Jacoby went 1-11 under center and I don’t think he’s long for the team holding out for more cash. Management, I think, would turn a blind eye to rewarding a QB who’s wants more but did not deliver wins. Gannon’s dismissal should tell you that’s a true statement. I know the Cards were banged up significantly and thin on talent, but come on man.

If he shows he can handle the different speed from college to the NFL, I'm ok with that. But I went from varsity HS baseball to Jr. college and the first time at bat, before I even started to step into the pitch it hit the catcher's mitt, I adjusted, strike two, another adjustment, strike three. I knew right there this was a leap I couldn't make. Now that's just me, and I was a pretty good hitter, but there is a new level to adjust to.
Yeah there are steps that are just beyond some people’s physical ability even if the mental side is there. I went from an all conference team member in arizonas top division in high school to having my body blow apart over the course of 2/3rds of a season playing Div III football. I was in the right place constantly but my body couldn’t stand up to the physicality (and understand, the players were largely the same size as Div I, just not nearly as talented). Dislocated my shoulder, cracked ribs and eventually totally blew my out my knee with the same season. 5’10, 205lbs Jewish linebacker just wasn’t going to cut it.

I agree with you but, prime time tv has professional writers using the acronym in comedic situations. Very few of us are even good at writing, and it was not used in an appropriate scenario. The cardinals are not a great organization, and maybe the fans aren't great either....butt, we can be funny as crap sometimes...;) LOLOLOL

Agree. While I’m absolutely sure Beck won’t be anything, I’m sure so we’re pays fans when they drafted Brady. And he doesn’t even have to be the best QB of all time to have smashing success with us. Who knows what he’ll be? Odds are against him, but odds are against anyone looking to be a pro athlete period.

I am legit curious about the opinions of people that chose the stache. Anyone care to build that argument? I don’t hate him and think he’ll be entertaining when he gets on the field. But why do yall think he’ll start?

It is not as simple as selecting which QB to start. The question is ‘which QB can survive a new playbook, a rebuilt OL, and two new RB? Which QB will mentor that process along?” At this point, we have two vet QB in JB and Minshew with both having gone through the challenge of a new PRO system. So, which QB is best equipped to bring the O into smooth working order? As others have mentioned, it is rare for a rookie to do so. KM was an exception since had a compatible HC and a playbook that he already knew that earned him the Heisman and #1 round pick.

Beck has plenty of college experience in important games and may have the processor to step up to the line and read the D and make the correct adjustments. Then again, he might not have enough insight into pro-level D to do the processing. More prudent to have him do it after the OL and our RBs gets settled in with the offense. Beck is not the most mobile QB and we need the OL to mesh and defend the pocket and a RB who can block and run proper routes.

The challenge in training camp is to determine which QB is going to function best with the new system and new players. Whoever emerges from that test should start—even if it is Beck. (My guess it will be JB).

The author doesn't have much confidence in JB (he's 31 on his list) and has KM at #22 (with the blame on the Cards for not surrounding him with 'talent.') Another dude who probably never watched a Cardinal game last year.

It’s a team game nobody was winning games with that injured roster. He performed well for a back up QB. I agree it’s kinda a bad look to ask for more money after a bad year but he is the starter for now, he should get some sort of bump.
