Also, for everyone who likes Malik Willis but dislikes Trinidad Chambliss...Spoiler alert, they are the same height.
I want the experience, not the height increase that concerns others.

What you're trying to say is you prefer Chambliss to Willis. I'll just say that for you. The money/cap space nonsense is just that: nonsense. You can bring in Willis (if you want) and kajigger it so the cap hit is small this season, and then do all the things you wanted to do for Chambliss. And you can do it without giving up a 2nd round pick.

To be clear, I don't want either of them. But, given the choice of Chambliss for a 2nd-round pick and Willis for a low-level QB contract, it's Willis all day, every day for me.
That's a new term/word for me. Can you give me a little more insight on its meaning? :p :D:thumbup:

I would assume he was told he isn't going to be a high pick this year and is betting on himself next year, probably would make more in NIL.
Yeah the NIL is certainly gonna be a factor. He’s probably thinking why not get paid a couple mil this year while refining my skills before the draft.

But I think if he declares he’s not gonna slip past rd 2. That could be the case next year as well even after another great season. That’s why the Dante Moore news is kinda perplexing.

Oh I’ll say that clearly, Chambliss has way more upside in this league than Willis. His short track record is already very impressive. Led his team to a D2 Championship in 2024, then nearly made the National Championship game this year.

What’s your solution at the position if they don’t go with either of these qbs?

From what I watched Chambliss didn't really make me think he is anything more than a project, I think round 2 is too high, late 3rd or 4th maybe. He is lucky in that game against Miami he wasn't intercepted 5 times that first half, some terrible decisions and throws that Miami flat out dropped--he did have a much better second half but as a whole I was not impressed. I guess we will see though.

Oh I think there’s major upside…His game against GA I think might have been the best performance by a player in the college football playoffs.

But yes, a few sketchy throws against Miami but played well in that game when it mattered. Led his team down the field to take the lead against Miami late in the game. Ole Miss defense gives up the game-winning TD and he still almost wins the game with only 30 seconds left. (There was a pass interference in the end zone the refs decided not to call)

If LaFleur wants Murray here and Murray wants to be here, that’s our best short term solution imo. If not, that’s cool too.

Get a 3rd for him with us eating some of his contract.

Get a late round pick from the Jets for Brissett.

Sign Malik Willis. Trade a laaaaate round pick for Stetson Bennett as your backup.

Would you take a guy with 3350 yards, 23 tds. and 8 int, in 12 games? I can’t remember the guys name….

Oh yeah Jacobi Brissett.
He actually did as well or better than many of the top rating qbs but is criticized for all the team losses. But he had practice squads RBs starting ,a terrible OL and an awful defense.

I’m bracing for him as our starter. I like Willis but I don’t see it happening. Any rookie not named Mendoza will be riding the bench.

Kajigger most often means:a slang term used to describe an object or thing that is not easily identifiable or known.

But, as a verb it also means: To manipulate or alter, especially in order to get something done illegally or unethically.

1) Trade up for Mendoza and damn the torpedoes on the cost. For those wilting lilies, imagine if you only gave up, say, 2 1sts and 2 2nds for rookie Peyton Manning.

2) Sign Flacco, draft a 3rd-round QB prospect (Allar for me), and let's go have fun.

Are you really comparing Mendoza to Peyton Manning? That's awfully bold. Imagine giving up 2 firsts and 2 seconds for say, Alex Smith.

If the team wants Willis, which I’d guess they do if they’re not keeping Murray, I’d think it wouldn’t be that tough of an acquisition. Monti had a hand in drafting him so he’s obviously comfortable with his skill set and character it. Willis knows the system (essentially) and had success within it. Big arm, good accuracy and mobility when necessary.

You had a good thing going until you went off the road there with Bennett. Way too many demons and not enough skills for any draft consideration and fragile (5'11", 190lb - on a good day). Why not get crazy and get Jimmy G or Mariota for a much lower price than Willis (it will be way too high) with likely the same result. We all would be happy with overall improvement this year knowing the playoffs are a year or two away. Not sure I see Willis processing defenses very well either. Heck, JB did a great job last year with practice squad guys around him. We don't need to trade Brisket to anyone for some crappy late round pick - guy can sling it. Ride that guy for '26 which we all know is a gap year and keep him in there until your prize pony from the '27 draft is ready to roll. Don't overthink it.

Chambliss's appeal just got denied for his extra year of eligibility. He may be in play if MS state courts deny next.
