These bowl game performances are going to have little to do with draft status. The scouts already have their evaluations on these guys.

Despite Simosins poor showing, his draft grade is very likely the same as it was going into the game. Where that grade falls is the question.

Disagree. Part of what they want in Bowl games is to see draftable players perform against teams that have NFL players. Nobody cares what Simpson did against Louisiana Monroe or Eastern Washington they want to see what he did against teams with NFL talent. He didn't bomb mind you but he didn't look nearly as good against good teams in recent weeks.

People keep bringing up the OL but for a top 5 pick the odds are pretty high you're going to a team that doesn't have a great OL

That is the thing I kept wondering about for the players on defenses that were stomping the other team. Do the top draft prospects look that much better against a poor oline that is getting dominated?

Willis would be a good choice but very expensive. All the eggs in one basket

I’ll grant he’s had limited playing time. Still his career QB rating is 98.9. His completion % is 68. His TD to interception rate is 2 to 1. He’s raw, but he’s a double threat QB. If he’ll sign for 2 years that’s better than the 4 year draft commitment. It all depends on how much he can get from the open market. If the money’s right, I’m in.
And how much might it have help Willis on the bench for 2 years behind Love?
A first round qb ids going to cost 35-40m. If he flops we are sunk.
I’m not sure what Willis will command, 13-15m per year? ( guessing) more ? Less?
Somebody pointed out Willis was in Tennessee when Monti was there. Might that mean something?

Will Cardinals have to overpay to compete with more stable situations?

Seems likely.

My feeling is it’s a one way deal. If they do well it helps them. If they do poorly it’s not usually enough to shake a year of observation.

I’m hearing they’re projecting a minimum of $20 a year for 2 years to get Willis.
I know you aint really a fan. But I been saying Carson Beck for a while now.
He has more starts, better stats, and better results than Moore or Simpson.

The only real question is if its worth trading back into the first to get the fifth year of control?

From a pure "Potential" standpoint how do you rate Beck versus Simpson? Since Simpson is the guy everyone says we are stuck with at 5.

Im thinking we potentially trade back a wee bit...either get our OT or another D Lineman, then use the trade comp to move back into the 28-32 range

also...from a pure numbers standpoint...

Kyler Murray straight up for Lamar Jackson.... which team is financially screwed the most?
Sounds like a crazy trade but if both teams are considering outright releasing these guys why not use them to at least take a swing on another talented guy?

Well, playing it close to the vest hasn’t gotten us anywhere.
My guess 20m a year would put him about middle of the pack in salary. No?

The only starting 2nd contract QBs making 20m or less are Justin Fields, Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones.

This might be true for other teams but remember the Cardinals do half their scouting at the dang senior bowl
