P Mitch Berger
DE Bertrand Berry
LB Blackstock
QB Tim Hasselbeck
S Terrence Holt
RB Edgerrin James
WR Bryant Johnson
S Bhawoh Jue
DT Ross Kolodziej
WR Sean Morey
QB Tim Rattay
OT Oliver Ross
RB Marcel Shipp
WR Jerheme Urban

and maybe k Neil Rackers.

That's 15 players and the real total is likely to be higher. 8-8 teams don't get better by keeping injury-prone players, ageing declining performance players or marginally productive players.

Many of those guys are Free Agents so technically they can't be cut.

madcard, cut or let go in free agency, doesn't matter to me. That was just my list of players I'm fairly sure will not be with us next year.

Holt, Berry, Shipp, Urban, Bienneman, and as much as I hate to say it I don't think Edge is back next year. Hate to lose a back to back 1,100+ yard rusher, especially with no viable backup.

If we cut Edge we are no better thsn the year after we went to the playoffs and lost Jimar Miller, Larry Centers, Adrian Murrel, Lomas Brown. This would be the old Cardianls front office all over again. Remember the B's Stated that once they got their new Stadium the would not have to scarafice good player anymore. So damit we as fans must hold them to this. You never ever get ride of a 1,200 yd runner in the NFL. Today this league is more of a passing game thsn a running game so for your running back to get over 1,200 yards you would be a fool to loose such an offensive weapon.

WR Sean Morey
OT Oliver Ross

These two would be the biggest surprise if it happened, since Morey especially was one of Whis's guys whom he brought in. Also, he was a pretty solid special teams contributor.

Shipp is my favorite Card. Always got screwed over kept his mouth shut and worked hard. May not have always produced but he's a worker. Hope he stays. Somewhere right now K9's face is boiling red with frustration!

As long as he takes a large paycut and never sees the field in punt blocking again. EVery blocked punt we had the last few years he was the guy who missed the block.

So the Colts were fools when they let him go to us in the first place?

RB's aren't all that hard to find, except traditionally for us. I wouldn't cut him without a viable replacement already on the roster but guys like him at his age and salary get cut every year by good teams.

This would be Shipp's 8th NFL season. He's getting to the point where running backs skills start to decline anyway.

Remember , Ross took a pay cut and was starting at the time he was injured.

Holt indeed
Berry
Kolodjfgjs
Bienemen
Hasselbeck

That would give us about 33 players under contract (?) with plenty of roster space for competition.

We keep Edge and perhaps draft his replacment. Even the great Adrian Peterson wasn't handed the reigns.
Bryant Johnson will not accept what we should pay a 3rd WR.

Re-sign Dansby and Pace.
Restructure Fitz.

But really are we at that stage that we are that so-called "GOOD TEAM...???"

My point was good teams cut guys like that and that means the only fools do that stuff is wrong. Good teams aren't fools, or they wouldn't be good.

Yes we are not the Colts, but the good teams get rid of players a year early not a year late.

Ross
Holt
Shipp
Berry
Hood

If we cut Holt and Hood and move Rolle to safety, then we can use that money to sign one of the big free agent CB. I am not completely sold on Rolle at safety, but I am willing to give me a chance.

Yes in some cases, but just look how Edge has preformed here an Jr. Sau (sp)

Both have done well with their new teams. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

Cut Hood? he led the team in INTs and played consistently well all season. He isn't a shut down corner but he is a more than adequate #2 CB.

Hood has been inconsistent most of the year. He has made great plays and he had made terrible plays. You are right, he is an adequate #2. However, we don't need an adequate #2, Green can be the #2 CB. I would like to see us bring in one of the top free-agent CB. Wouldn't it be nice to have a shutdown CB? Signing a free agent CB will cost some big money and by releasing Hood and Holt that should free up about $4.5M. If Rolle can play safety we would a great secondary. We have to stop being satisfied with average and adequate players. We need to move to the next level.

Shipp, Berry, Random Scrub players, Two to four players that will surprise 99% of us (a result of second year coach cutting good players that don't fit his system).

Additionally I feel that the following 2 players will be given another year even though they don't deserve it: Holt and Ross. Ross because of his relationship with Whiz/Grimm, and Holt because with Adrian recently talking about his contract, they probably don't want to upset him more by cutting his college teammate (roommate too I think). In other words Holt sticks as a Graves/ Michael B overrule of Whiz.

You want to get rid of Hood for being inconsistent but keep the far more inconsistent CB in Green. The even less adequate #2 CB? Green gave up the most receiving TD's on the team and he gets a pass?

Do you honestly believe we will sign a top flight CB in free agency? Also there is no such thing as a shut down CB in this league any more. That went away when the rules started to be enforced against the CB's.

Hood is signed to a super low 5 year 15 Mill deal. Cap savings for cutting him would only just barely pay for Greens RFA tender.

I don't know what you were watching if you disliked the play of Hood and like the play of Green. Hood gave us about the best play out of a CB AZ has had in a long time.

Zeno,

I never said anything about Green. I am not really satisfied with either CB. They are both average #2 CB. The difference between Green and Hood is that this is Green's 1st year as a starting CB and Hood has been starting for 5 years. I was not impressed with Hood stopping and letting the WR run right by him for a TD. This happened several times during the year. Green's problem is he gets overly aggressive at times and hopefully with more experience he will learn and improve. I don't see Hood improving.

If we could sign one of the top free agent CB and still keep Hood and Green I would be happy. However, there is a limited amount of money and I think we would all like to see an improvement in the CB.

You are right Joe, We have two adequate #2 corners. We need a #1 corner. Hoods salary is $2.5m and Holts is $2M. After signing Pace and Dansby money will be tight. I am hoping Green will improve next year since this was his first year as a starter.

I don't want to see us playing next year with Green and Hood as our starters or relying on a draft pick to start. Our secondary is weak, signing a top free agent would dramatically improve our secondary.

I've been a big fan of Shipp. I love his desire, his work ethic, his professionalism and his team first attitude. Unfortunately, he just doesn't have the production to keep a roster spot.

Goodyear, a great pass rush often suddenly turns average CBs into very good CBs.

You can't count on signing a top free agent and letting Hood go for nothing. If we miss out on that top free agent we are stuck with Green and Ralph Brown at CB.. It'd be great to sign a top free agent move Hood to #2 and have Green as our nickelback but I don't think thats going to happen. If we sign 1 name free agent I am betting its Faneca and thats it.
