The Simpsons has been known to eerily predict things -- a Duke and NC State game, the fact that the Broncos and Seahawks played in a Super Bowl, and of course a certain president being elected.

So did the long-running animated show predict the possible 2026 World Cup final? Let's go all the way back to Season 9 in The Cartridge Family, the sixth episode of that year in which the Simpsons attend a Continental Soccer Association game between Mexico and Portugal.

Mexico and Portugal can definitely face each other in the final -- we're writing this before Mexico faces England on Sunday in the Round of 16 -- but it's not quite a World Cup prediction in my opinion. It's a game from the fictional Continental Soccer Association, so... should we count it? Guess we'll see if Mexico and Portugal make it to the final.

according to Simpsons Season 9 episode Portugal and Mexico will be in the finals of the World Cup 2026.
