This morning, the Carolina Panthers made yesterday's big news official—inking receiver Jalen Coker to a contract extension. And now, we have more details on the new deal.
Combined with the year he received as an exclusive rights free agent, Coker's total pact will span over four seasons and pay out a base of $35 million. He can earn up to $41 million through incentives and is bringing in a $7 million signing bonus and $19.5 in guaranteed money.
Across all four years, Coker will average an annual salary of $8.75 million—ranking 43rd amongst all wideouts. That puts him in between Marvin Harrison Jr. of the Arizona Cardinals ($8.8 million) and Jordyn Tyson of the New Orleans Saints ($8.12 million).
If you calculate the agreement across his three new years, it's an average of around $11.66 million—which would rank 39th. That puts him in between Jalen Nailor of the Las Vegas Raiders and Travis Hunter of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And if you'd rather evaluate Coker's deal by guaranteed money, the $19.5 million guaranteed ranks 41st at his position—just ahead of New Orleans' Chris Olave and just behind Cleveland Browns rookie KC Concepcion.
At just 24 years old, the Panthers are clearly betting that Coker's best days are ahead of him.
