Where does Titans' QB/coach duo of Robert Saleh and Cam Ward rank?

There is a different feeling surrounding the Tennessee Titans this offseason. Between the complete organizational rebrand, the new coaching staff, and an exciting mix of player additions, the expectations are starting to build.

One of the reasons for the excitement is quarterback Cam Ward, and how he will develop in his second season with a real play-calling coordinator calling the shots. That is something that Jared Dubin of CBS Sports breaks down in his ranking of the new quarterback/coach rankings.

No. 5 - Titans | QB: Cam Ward | Coach: Robert SalehWard showcased an extremely up-and-down rookie season. His overall numbers don't look great. The tape looks considerably better than the numbers, but there's only so much you can paper over the production with "yeah but he looked better than that." Still, the ceiling for him is sky high given his arm talent, and he'll be put in better positions to succeed this year given that the Titans added some actual receiving talent in Wan'Dale Robinson and Carnell Tate, and also hired an offensive coordinator under Saleh (Brian Daboll) who has shown a decent ability to maximize the talent of his quarterbacks in the past (or at least more of one than last year's Tennessee coaching staff). The offenses in New York under Saleh were underwhelming but his defenses were consistently excellent, and that should help Ward, as well.

Ward did have an up-and-down rookie season, but he improved dramatically after Brian Callahan was fired and the offense worked with him instead of against him. Incredibly, this fact is often omitted when analysts discuss his rookie season. Dubin does sort of mention it, but it is definitely a factor that cannot be overlooked when talking about Ward’s rookie season.

Ward definitely has a chance to take a significant jump forward in 2026. Between the new coaching staff and the weapons added to the roster, he is in a much better position to succeed. The biggest question is whether or not they have done enough on their offensive line to make it work.
