if we trade PP we are stupid. You dont trade a top CB. we add 3 more solid defensive players we can be solid.
He sure didn’t look like a top corner against a top receiver. He was definitely in over his head today

So what you are saying is fire VJ because we fail with his soft zone regardless and we retain Peterson and use him as any other franchise with common sense :)
Status quo won’t cut it regardless of which or both happen.

Watching guys constantly being wide open game after game after game is maddening. Especially when you don’t see it happening to most other teams each week. And to think I’d say it’s worse this year than last seasons atrocious defense. I’m quite sure we’re giving up 70%+ completion in the pass game now. Think about that Jet!

I'm not saying we should not fire Vance, but cutting Peterson loose does not seem like the solution. Our problem is is that our LBs cannot cover and our safeties cannot either, but at least the Thompson twins I can attribute to being rookies

It’s not all on the LBs imo. I guess what your missing is either adapt your defense to its strengths, or change the players to fit your scheme, or fire the DC in charge.

This pass defense is atrocious, regardless of the pass rush which was almost non existent today. Me & you could play pitch & catch against or secondary. You rarely see guys running so wide open on most team compared to the Cardinals. There’s also lots of confusion in the secondary before the snap, which was happening last season

Bottom line is something is wrong & stinks like the Texas Longhorns lol

You're 100% correct on that, our LB'ers can't cover at all & BB misses his assignments too much, TT's are young & need time to develop. Guys wouldn't be wide open if we had LB'ers that could cover, safeties that could cover & both starting CB's were actually playing. SK has his work cut out for him in the offseason.

Oh, I get what you are saying, and if you are saying VJ is not playing to our strengths I agree but the Saints have an elite OL and fire power... though yes TEs running free have been a constant

Sorry just not TEs. WRs as well.

Again if Vance wants to run mostly soft zones, trade PP because that’s not his strength or game.

Make a change in scheme, personnel or coach either way because this pass D is death by a thousand paper cuts. Way too easy to pass on them & very few contested throws

The soft zones also keep our offense on the sidelines way too long. Teams have no problem converting 3rd downs because our defenders play too deep and allow easy catches at the sticks. The announcers were talking about how the offense goes fast and we were losing the time of possession badly, but that's just as much on the defense who can never get off the field because they are not aggressive.

Play man and bring the house. Make the opponent make plays. They either make the play and score or they don't and they get off the field. Enough of these long drives full of easy completions.

Ding ding ding. How many 3rd & 10+ do we give up for 1st downs? It’s too damn easy just like last season

Watching defenses defend our offense vs our defenders against the opponent is night & day. No comparison & teams are seeing this on film. I’m quite sure our back 7 don’t have many passes defended compared to other teams for that reason.

It’s really got me pissed off lol

I agree with you but not about trading Peterson because that is not the solution but changing to a scheme which for the secondary is not basically prevent defense... and the whole Big XII stinks due to defense :)

Keim is a just a terrible GM. There is not even a decent #2 WR on this team. Get a fu*king WR in trade to help Murray now or watch him slowly regress as a passer.

If anyone is still unclear, there is no passing game without David Johnson. Chew on the fact that your best route running receiver is your RB1

I'm working hard on the 2020 version of our front seven. I'm actually thinking of it as a "front fourteen". I want better starters, and better back ups.

Hicks is fine, and he's locked up on a decent contract through 2022.

Jones if fine of course. He's signed for several more years.

But Reddick needs to be a back up to somebody better at the ILB spot. Same for Suggs at OLB.

Then I'm trying to upgrade both Gunter and Peters positions. They're both guys that should be coming off the bench (IMO).

I guess I give Z. Allen a chance to hold down the other DL spot.

And, for the love of god, I'm working 2020 FA hard so that I don't have Walker and Brooks Reed coming off then bench at LB. That is ******* disgraceful.

We always sucked with a zone D ...man to man period. Joseph is the McCoy of defense. Why do us fans see what D we should be running based on the players we have..,it screams man to man. Zone D is a slow death

What's the structure around Kliff? Does he have a senior mentor or other resource, someone who's perhaps been in the coaching hot seat themselves previously that he can bounce ideas off, get feedback from, develop his coaching etc?

Or is KK expected to be above needing all that as he's head coach?

Brandon Scherff should be our #1 de-facto FA target after the season.

It is tough to argue with this, but this, coupled with DJ Humphries new contract and Pugh's current contract, would tie a ton of money up in the offensive line. It isn't a terrible thing, but we will have to develop linemen at some point in time. I also can't see us re-signing Humphries, signing Scherff AND drafting a RT in the top two rounds.

All of this also assumes that the Redskins do not put the franchise tag on Scherff.

But dumping a bunch of assets for a safety is just fine?

(I'm just prodding you from the other thread, haha.)

Actually I think it starts and ends with MB, but there's nothing we can do about it. He's the one constant.
He's gotten us a stadium, super bowl hosts, a played super bowl and an nfc championship in what...15 years? I'm not going to hate on him one bit.

Kinda. He's usually covered by lbers. Fitz could beat them too.

I would lower the cost of beer at the stadium and randomly insert porn onto the big screens during the game.

people might say, “hey! jefftheshark! Won’t that distract fans away from the action on the field?” But I wouldn’t care because duh, cheap beer and free porn is way more enticing than being in the first year of another five year rebuilding project.
