Welp, Kuminga just got offered a lot of money. Where does he end up?

Who offered him this contract?

Kuminga has requested a trade...the first day he was able to do so. He's been buried on the bench.

To reiterate… I don’t think he’d be in our rotation if he was on the roster.

I certainly wouldn’t want to pay him anywhere near the amount of money he is supposedly seeking.

To make the money work, we’d have to trade either Grayson or O’Neale and both of them have been better players this year.

Golden state had every incentive to make it work and he ended up buried on the bench. I suspect he’s just kinda lousy. Even in the years where he has scored, statistically, he’s not really good at anything.

The Crazy thing to me is the most popular trade rumor around him seems to be Michael Porter Jr. He's having a career year and he is bigger than the guy he'd replace, Moody, but he's not a 5 not a rim protector and you have to be REALLY concerned about committing to him with the injury history of his back and leg.
But that's been the rumor for a bit now, some 3 team combo that gets MPJ to the Warriors and sends out Kuminga, Moody and 2 first round picks.

I don't think I can trust a guy who's had like 3 back surgeries and plays with an ankle brace that looks like it's meant for an NFL lineman.

I suppose if my team had 40 million in dead money to toss around, that would be one thing, but 2 picks for a guy with that injury history... yikes.

One of the real "what if" stories. Was one of the more hyped prospects before he destroyed his back in his 1st game in college, widely thought of as the #1 pick in the Luka/Ayton draft a year before that injury.

I agree you can't trust someone like Porter but for Kuminga and a couple picks, for a chance to send Curry off with another title? I MIGHT trust him long enough to make that trade worthwhile assuming the FO thinks he's enough to put them into contention.

If Porter was enough to help a team contend then he wouldn't have been traded away from Denver. I could sooner see him buried for not playing D or taking bad shots like Kuminga than help the Warriors.

I think the idea is they think the window is still open with Curry and Butler if they get one more guy so they're willing to roll the dice.

The rumor I prefer is Trey Murphy, I think he might be a better overall player than MPJ anyways if you consider defense and the health risks but apparently he would cost them multiple picks too.

Yeah I posted a pic of the leg brace thing MPJ wears before it's like a torture device. I guess as a result of his back surgeries he has some leg drop thing and the brace is there for that. At the time I said it looked like Forrest gump before his braces broke off. Pretty amazing he can play in the NBA with that thing.

They are 10-4 in the last 14 games they have hit on a nice rotation, Moody is playing well and Melton getting healthy has been big, but they think they need one more consistent scorer with some size thus the attraction to Porter. If they're going to do one of the deals I much prefer the Murphy one

An aside, last nights game was on Prime so I watched with national announcers not the Warriors home crew or the opposition home crew(Knicks). What made it so interesting was they decided to talk about how good Steph Curry is at other things, Warriors announcers do it all the time but other ones just talk about his shooting. There was a sequence in the 4th where their lead went to double digits. There was a 12 point sequence where Steph hit 2 threes and they scored on another 3. All the non Steph baskets were created by a screen, by Steph Curry. Got a layup for one guy, they top locked him on a screen on another so he screened the other guy creating a wide open jumper for the guy who was supposed to be screening for him. HIs "gravity" is amazing you can get an open shot anytime you want just playing off him.

If only Kuminga could have figured that out and got the right shots. he settles for 3's and he's not a good enough shooter for that to work.

All things considered Kuminga IMO has handled it pretty well. In the pregame last night Prime showed the team doing their pregame dance. It was the first day of him being allowed to be traded, hasn't played in weeks, and he's out there dancing with the team like nothing is wrong. Other than his hood being over his head you would not notice anything. He and Butler are really tight, Jimmy loves him. I think they all get it's a business, there's a fit issue and they have to now find the right trade and move on.

Contrast with Butler who just forced his way out of Miami last year and JK has been good about it. But in the end ther'es no path forward for him with the W's

Admittedly weak opponents but he's been really good. Happy for him, I never blamed him, he didn't figure out how to play with Curry and I don't think it was ever going to work for him with Kerr.
