Coach Heather Tarr and the Washington Huskies made a late addition to their roster on Wednesday, when the program officially announced the signing of junior college transfer Scarlette Chapman.
Chapman, a product of Edmonds Community College, put together a dominant 2026 campaign to cement herself as an important target for Tarr's coaching staff. The infielder led her team in most major offensive categories, with a .557 batting average and an 1.859 OPS thanks to a .606 on-base percentage and a 1.253 slugging percentage on 88 hits, 29 home runs, and 106 runs batted in.
“Scarlette Chapman is somebody we’ve had our eye on for a while,” Tarr said in a press release. “We had an opportunity available to increase the depth in our infield, and we found exactly what we needed. A left-handed power hitter with collegiate experience and a big heart for the Huskies. We will look forward to seeing her in purple and gold this fall, helping our team continue our pursuit of our second national championship.”
After starting her college career at the University of California San Diego, she returned to Washington in 2026 and now will have an opportunity to represent her hometown team.
“I chose Washington because it felt like home, not only because of its proximity, but because of the atmosphere and community,” Chapman said. “As a female student-athlete, I have the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself through this platform, and I could not be more excited.”
On Montlake, Chapman should have an opportunity to compete for a spot in the middle infield with Melody Acevedo, Marley Teasley, Gabi Toney, and Grazia Mazzola.
