Ahead of her sophomore season, Washington Huskies infielder Marley Teasley is putting together a strong summer with the Wausau Ignite of the Northwoods League Softball.
After being a late addition to coach Heather Tarr's roster, the 2025 MaxPreps Player of the Year in Oklahoma put together a solid freshman campaign. She appeared in 36 games and posted a .255 batting average and .682 OPS on 13 hits with a home run, 8 runs batted in, and 6 walks, and now she's building on that in Wisconsin's collegiate softball league.
Across 11 games with the Ignite, Teasley has put together a .359 batting average and 1.150 OPS on 14 hits with 3 home runs, 12 runs batted in, 5 walks, and a stolen base as she looks to establish herself as a regular in Tarr's lineup in 2027.
With infielders Jade Bubke, Riley Peschek, and Mila Reddy all choosing to enter the transfer portal after the season, Teasley has a golden opportunity to establish herself as the everyday starter at second base during her sophomore year. Her performance with the Ignite could send a message to Washington's coaching staff that she's ready for a bigger role.
"Marley is the exact kind of student-athlete we pursue at Washington, tough, talented, and driven to compete at the highest level," Tarr said in a press release after she signed.
"She brings passion and toughness to everything she does, and her versatility on the field is matched by her determination in the classroom," Tarr added. "Marley comes from a strong family as the youngest of four, and it's clear she was raised to compete. She's our type of Husky through and through."
