As the Washington Huskies gear up for the 2027 season, coach Heather Tarr may not need to turn to the transfer portal to bolster her pitching staff.

Washington's only graduating senior from the 2026 campaign is Sophia Ramuno, who put together a strong final year on Montlake. The former Cal Poly transfer earned NFCA All-Mountain Region Second Team honors after her final season, in which she tallied a 10-6 record, 2 saves, 3.23 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, .217 batting average against, and 113 strikeouts over 102 innings, which will leave a big hole in the rotation.

With very little starting experience behind Morgan Reimer, as UW's Canadian ace and Ramuno combined for 50 of the team's 57 starts last season, there will be several questions that need to be answered in the circle, but the Huskies may have some answers in the form of young reinforcements.

Behind Reimer, Tarr may be hoping for former top recruit Amira Rodriguez to step into a larger role after a knee injury limited her to just three games, with two appearances in the circle, in her first year at the college level. Over those two games, which included a start against then-No. 1 Texas, Rodriguez worked 3 1/3 innings and let up 2 runs on 3 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts.

On top of Rodriguez, pitching coach Brad Kilpatrick and the Huskies also have a pair of promising incoming freshmen to lean on in the 2027 class.

Between five-star Abby Ford, who is ranked as the nation's No. 9 overall prospect and No. 6 pitcher in the 2027 class by Rivals, and four-star Lila McLeod, the No. 77 prospect and No. 22 pitcher, even without Ramuno, the Huskies have plenty of promising young arms waiting for their turn in the circle.
