I had some uproarious debate a couple months back with someone about Orton Vs Palmer and I am glad many Card fans are seeing what I do with Palmer.
He put up numbers (look to Russ's earlier post) we would have KILLED for last year.....
A) Playing outside 14 times
B) Playing in a cold weather city and a cold weather division
C) Playing the Steelers and Ravens 4 times
D) Playing with the two most screwed up WR's of our generation
E) Behind a porous offensive line
F) And for a TERRIBLE OC
Oh yeah and all that was for one of the most fundamentally screwed up franchises over the past 20 years.
I will admit I have watched Carson over the past 2 years and thought "damn he lost what he had" but I also think environment plays a huge role in any QB's overall play, and while we are not the Pats - playing closer to home, for a better HC/OC (Can't wait until someone duplictes this whole post and then decides to refute this one sentence because they don't like Wiz and saying "Warner and Big Ben did it on their own!") in a better stadium, throwing to the premier WR in the game (also one of the best guys in the league) IN THE NFC WEST - logic tells you he would play alot better.
And the division is the biggest piece. In this division, Palmer immediatly makes us the favorite IMHO. Rams are still multiple players away (and Bradford will regress a bit next year learning a new system and because after Year 1everyones got tons of tape on you - happened to Matt Ryan too), the Seahawks might then end up with Kolb but im nto scared of that with that team and the weapons they have, and the Niners are pinning their hopes on the crap combo of Kapernick and Alex Smith.
And your telling me Palmer doesn't win us THAT division? Especially if Horton and Peterson are the truth we think they are.
Sign me up. Come back to the West Coast Carson. You very well could be Warner Part Deux.
