Here are some of the best boys and girls basketball performances from the Skyland Conference, Greater Middlesex Conference and area Union County teams.

Ballot closes Saturday night at midnight
The Ramblers have won four of their last five games and the board-grabbing junior forward has averaged 16.6 points in that run. He posted a season-high 30 points with 13 rebounds in a 30-point win over Timothy Christian -- the third 30-plus showing of his career. He leads his team in scoring (16.0), rebounding (13.5) and blocked shots.
The junior forward helped the Red Devils beat Sparta 74-66 Saturday in the tri-county quarterfinals with 23 points. He also sunk a 3-pointer, one of 10 Central hit for the in the contest.
The junior transfer from Piscataway has fit in nicely with the Cardinals, leading the team in points (20.3 ppg) and rebounds (10.3 rpg), and she led the way again last week as Plainfield notched wins over Scotch Plains-Fanwood, Union Catholic and Paterson Eastside. Croley-Battle, who has 12 doubles-doubles, scoring in double digits each time out, went for 17 points and eight rebounds against SPF, 18 and 12 at UC and 22 and 11 Saturday against the Ghosts.

The junior helped the Pioneers improve to 14-7 with solid outings against Bound Brook and Voorhees. He drained 23 points with four rebounds and four assists in a 67-34 win over Bound Brook, then hit for 16 points with four rebounds and four assists in a 66-40 win over Voorhees.

The freshman has been one of three frontline weapons for a team led by senior Ava Kohler that also features classmate Thara Belton. Kambatsis scored in double digits in all four games last week, as Highland Park went 3-1, including a 19-point, five-steal effort in Saturday’s first-round county-tournament win over East Brunswick Magnet.
The senior four-year starter is closing in on the 1,500 career-point mark, averaging 19.8 points per game as the Pioneers enter the week with a chance to complete a late run at the Skyland Valley Division title. Lauber was big in all three Somerville wins last week, tallying 30 points, six rebounds and six steals in a win over Watchung Hills that avenged a county-tournament loss, notched 23 points, seven boards and five steals in a nice interconference triumph over Spotswood, and then posted 14 points, seven rebounds and five steals in a division victory over Delaware Valley.
There may be better players in the GMC, but few play with more energy than the junior transfer from Monroe. The Tigers’ leading scorer only scored in double figures once in three outings last week, but he collected double-digit rebounds in all three. Despite battling the flu, Mora was magnificent in back-to-back games staged 14 hours apart over the weekend, claiming 11 boards in a victory over divisional-winner Perth Amboy Magnet, followed by 12 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and nine steals the next morning in a GMCT play-in tilt at J.F. Kennedy.
It is no coincidence the Panthers are 15-1 since the senior transfer from Woodbridge became eligible last month. Coach Donald Reid has given the keys to the proverbial car to his prolific point guard and Reyes has responded by averaging 11 points and nearly 7 assists since entering the fray. His 23 points led the 20th-victory-clinching win over Middlesex last week.
The junior has been a huge part of the Barrons GMC White Division-American championship run, one of several standouts on a club led by senior Angel Smith. Stanford, who is second on the club with 12.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, turned in a pair of big efforts last week, scoring 22 in a win over Sayreville and 20 in a triumph over Carteret.
The senior has already enjoyed a breakout year for the bulldogs and she turned things up a notch, posting a pair of career-high 19-point games in wins over J.P. Stevens and against Dunellen in the GMCT opener, respectively. Vanleeuwen, who also notched 14 points and four rebounds in a victory over South Plainfield last week, is averaging 11.4 points per game as a first-time starter.
The senior guard tallied 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists in Tuesday’s 51-44 win at Rahway when coach Art Cattano got his 600th career win. Zamora notched 22 points with four rebounds and six assists in Saturday’s 61-41 win over Governor Livingston.
