Another week brought another round of standout performances. Here are some of the best boys and girls basketball performances from the Skyland Conference, Greater Middlesex Conference and area Union County teams.

Ballot closes Saturday night at midnight
The sophomore guard hit three 3s, including what turned out to be the winning points in Saturday’s thrilling 52-50 win over Westfield. He finished with 17 points, including six 3s, and notched 22 points Thursday in a 71-26 rout of Central Jersey College Charter.

The four-year starter and 1,390-point scorer has been a model of consistency for the Bombers, scoring at least 14 points in every contest and 20 or more in five of the last six. He struck for 26 when Sayreville upset Piscataway last week and leads his team in scoring (21.5) and assists.
The 6-foot-8 junior forward hit for a career-high 29 points and 14 rebounds Thursday in his team’s stunning 64-58 win over powerhouse Rutgers Prep.
The junior, who transferred in after playing at Piscataway for two seasons, has taken has game to a new level with the Cardinals, averaging 21 points and 8.6 rebounds. That included a season-high 28 points against University on Saturday, which marked the seventh time in 11 games Croley-Battle had eclipsed the 20-point mark. She also has four double-doubles to her credit.

The senior became just the second Manville basketball player – boys or girls – to reach the 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds mark, doing it with a game-winning shot in the Mustangs’ win over College Achieve last week. Fleming is averaging 16.3 points and 12.1 rebounds so far this season.
The junior has been key for the Guvs, who are out to a 10-1 start and are undefeated in the Blue-National Division. Evanski is leading the team with 12.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, including seven double-digit scoring performances in her 10 games.
Quite the week for the 6-foot-4 sophomore, who scored 28 points as the Vikings beat previously unbeaten Chatham on Monday, and then tallied 22 points in back-to-back wins over Westfield and Paramus Catholic.
The sophomore has been a big part of a 9-1 Rams start that’s seen major contributions from a host of players, including freshman Gianna Castelhano, juniors Karina Santos and Gabriella Castelhano and sophomore Reese Rega. But it’s Perez who led the way last week with two games scoring 12 or more points, including a 12-point, 14-rebound outing in a win over Mother Seton. Perez has notched 8.5 points and 7.1 rebounds for the season, both team highs.
The Crusaders have looked like the powerhouse that dominated the Mountain Division for the better part of the past decade and the rookie has had a big hand in the early-season success. Pugh is averaging 17.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game for 10-1 Bound Brook, including four double-doubles and five game scoring 20 or more points. The freshman has scored in double digits in all 11 of the Crusaders’ games.
The sophomore has nearly matched his scoring total from his breakout freshman campaign (239) in this season’s first 10 games (221, 22.1). Rodriguez has clearly established himself as the Patriots’ go-to guy on offense and he’s responded by scoring 12 or more in each contest with a high of 37 against Piscataway and six outings of 20 or more.
The Barrons became the first team to clinch a GMC division title when they wrapped up the White Division-American title last week. Smith has led the way, tallying 16.1 points and 10.3 rebounds for the season, including a 24-point, 16-rebound outburst in Thursday’s win over J.P. Stevens. She’s netted 20 or more points four times this year and turned in six games with double-digit rebounds, including four double-doubles.
Another four-year starter joined the 1,000-point club when Vick netted 22 in a victory over Monroe last Thursday. It’s quite an accomplishment for a player who is not necessarily his team’s first option on offense. He’s scored in double digits in all 12 outings entering this week, with a high of 24 for a 16.7 scoring average.
