The greatest players perform at their best when the games get bigger, and with several Central Mass. teams making runs in the MIAA state playoffs, Jennifer Toland found some of the best for readers to vote on to decide the Hometeam Playoff Performer of the Week.

But first some housekeeping, as congratulations go out to Grafton's Ian Ouellette for taking the top spot in last week's Baseball Player of the Week poll, recording 1,007 votes (68.1 percent) to roll to the win.

Tip of the cap to Wachusett's Morgan Lucas for earning the win in last week's Softball Player of the Week poll, hitting 3,100 votes (79.4 percent) to cruise to victory.

Congratulations to Shrewbury's Jacob Karter for winning last week's Boys' Lacrosse Player of the Week poll, earning 1,183 votes (55.7) points for the win.

Stick taps to Nashoba's Aubrey Christian for winning last week's Girls' Lacrosse Player of the Week poll with 1,340 votes (65.6 percent).

Baseball​

Sawyer Corbin, Leominster​

Corbin’s two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth lifted the Blue Devils to a 7-6 win over North Quincy in a Division 1 second-round game.

Andrew Mortimer, Clinton​

Mortimer’s two-run triple highlighted the Gaels’ three-run rally in the top of the seventh and an 8-5 win over Amesbury in a Divison 4 first-round game.

Owen Miller, St. John’s​

Miller went 5-7 and drove in six runs in the Pioneers’ two Division 1 tournament games.

Ryan Nikiforow, Millbury​

In a Division 4 first-round matchup against Lowell Catholic, Nikiforow pitched a perfect game with eight strikeouts. He allowed one earned run and struck out seven in a 1-0 loss to Pope John Paul II in the quarterfinals.

Eddie O’Rourke, Maynard​

In a Division 5 second-round win over Westfield Tech, O’Rourke pitched a complete game and allowed three earned runs on seven hits. He singled, doubles and drove in two runs.

Girls’ golf​

Georgia Beland, Notre Dame Academy​

Beland carded a 9-over 81 at the MIAA State Championship to finish third individually and lead the Rebels to a fifth-place performance.

Boys’ lacrosse​

Trevor Roadman, Nipmuc​

Roadman scored five goals and had five assists in the Warriors’ two Division 4 tournament games.

Girls’ lacrosse​

Sydney Balewicz, Nashoba​

Balewicz scored six goals and had an assist to help lead Nashoba past St. Mary’s and into the Division 3 semifinals.

Mackenzie Gage, Westborough​

Gage scored five goals in a win over Dartmouth in the Division 2 second round.

Softball​

Emily Atwood, Hopedale​

Atwood pitched a four-hit shutout against Hopkins and a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts against Granby and led the Blue Raiders to the Division 5 state semifinals.

Brielle Brothers, Millbury​

Brothers pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out 14 in a Division 4 first-round win over Notre Dame Academy (Tyngsborough). She did not allow an earned run and struck out 10 in a 3-2 loss to East Bridgewater in the second round.

Leah Harrington, Lunenburg​

Harrington went 3-4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Blue Knights to a win over Manchester Essex in the second round of the Division 4 tournament.

Kylie Hogan, Tyngsborough​

In a Division 4 second-round win over Narragansett Regional, Hogan pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out 12. She hit two home runs in the Tigers’ two tourney wins and helped them to the state semifinals.

Emily Hultgren, Shepherd Hill​

In three tournament wins, Hultgren collected six hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in six runs to help lead the Rams to the Division 2 state semifinals.

Maddie Karlon, Maynard​

In two Division 5 tournament wins, Karlon struck out 27 batters and allowed two earned runs to lead the Tigers to the state semifinals.

Kyra Krasinskas, Oxford​

In an eight-inning win over Millis in the Division 4 first round, Krasinskas allowed 2 runs on 8 hits and struck out 14.

Keira McCord, Tantasqua​

In a Division 3 first-round win over Greater Lowell, McCord pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out 11. She hit a home run.

Ava McLeod, AMSA​

In the Division 4 tournament, McLeod pitched back-to-back shutouts and struck out 11 to lead the Eagles to the state semifinals.

Lyla Rose, Shrewsbury​

Rose helped the Colonials win three tourney games and advance to the Division 1 state semifinals. She hit two homers and drove in five runs. In a win over Chelmsford in the second round, Rose allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits and struck out 12.

Boys’ tennis​

Zach Forgette, Westborough​

Forgette won his No. 2 singles matches and helped the Rangers defeat Plymouth South and Hingham in the Division 2 tournament.

Girls’ tennis​

Michele Xu, Bromfield School​

Xu won her No. 1 singles matches to lead the Trojans past Rising Tide Charter and Amesbury in the Division 4 tournament.

Sean Blaze, Clinton​

At the MIAA Meet of Champions, Blaze was second in the 100 and third in the 200.

Jayden Delaleu, Millbury​

At the MIAA Meet of Champions, Delaleu finished third in the high jump.

Ari Levine, Hopedale​

At the MIAA Meet of Champions, Levine was third in the discus and fourth in the shot put.

Girls’ track & field​

Savannah Jansson, Tyngsborough​

Jansson finished second in the high jump and sixth in the 400 hurdles at the MIAA Meet of Champions.

Kinsley Kline, Parker​

Kline won the title in the pole vault at the MIAA Meet of Champions.

Lorelai Levy, Ayer Shirley​

At the MIAA Meet of Champions, Levy finished fifth in the 100 hurdles in a school-record time of 14.85 seconds. She was fifth in the 400 hurdles.

Al Regnier, Westborough​

At the MIAA Meet of Champions, Regnier won the pentathlon and was sixth in the long jump.

Madelyn Wilson, Notre Dame Academy​

Wilson was a triple winner at the MIAA Meet of Champions, capturing first place in the 2 mile, mile and the 400 in the wheelchair division.

Naomi Witt, Wachusett​

Witt finished third in the 800 at the MIAA Meet of Champions.

Isabel Zukowski, Auburn​

Zukowski finished third in the shot put at the MIAA Meet of Champions.
