Here are The Arizona Republic's picks for the top 10 high school boys track and field athletes from the fourth week of the 2026 season (March 16-21). 1. Kadyn Hysong, Phoenix Shadow Mountain, jumps, So.
He won the pole vault at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, clearing 17 feet, 1 inches to set the state lead and move up to No. 2 in the nation. Historically, Hysong becomes the 10th sophomore in the United States to go over 17 feet, No. 6 all-time.
2. Ryder Hall, Snowflake, jumps, Sr.
He won both the high jump (6-8) and long jump (23-4) at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, re-setting the state lead in the high jump.
3. Tyree McSwain, Gilbert Williams Field, sprints, Sr.
He won the 400 meters (47.91 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (38.22) at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, setting the state lead and becoming the first in-state athlete to go under 48 seconds in the 400 this season. He also moves up to No. 2 in the state for the 300-hurdles.
4. Maddox Bonilla, Queen Creek Casteel, mid-distance, Jr.
He won the 800 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, running 1:52.38 to set the state lead.
5. Zarian Rodriguez, Chandler Hamilton, distance, Sr.
He won the 1,600 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, running 4:12.21 to set the state lead. Also ran 9:08.51 to finish second in the 3,200, moving up to No. 2 in the state.
6. Symond Martin, Page, distance, Sr.
He won the 3,200 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, running 9:06.31 to set the state lead.
7. Malachi Joyner, Gilbert Williams Field, throws, Sr.
He won the discus at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, throwing 175-5 to set the state lead.
8. Christopher Dillman, Chandler Arizona College Prep, throws, Sr.
He won the javelin at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, throwing 186-3 to move up to No. 2 in the state.
9. Hudson Hensley, Phoenix Brophy Prep, throws, Fr.
He finished third in the javelin at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, throwing 180-6 to move up to No. 4 in the state and No. 1 in the United States for freshmen.
10. Amare Holley, Mesa Red Mountain, sprints, Sr.
He continued his winning ways in the 200 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, running 21.48 to come in first for his third straight win in the event and retain his top state ranking. He also came in third in the 100, running 10.77 to move up to No. 8 in the state.
11. Cristiano Morales, Tucson Salpointe Catholic, sprints, Sr.
He won the 400 at the Thomas Meixner Lancer Invitational on March 21, running 48.22 to move up to No. 2 in the state.
12. Josiah Rue, Chandler, sprints, Sr.
He came in second in the 200 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, running 21.56 to move up to No. 2 in the state.
13. Ajani Leggett, Phoenix Sunnyslope, jumps, Sr.
He recorded his fourth straight win in the triple jump this season, hitting 48-0 to come in first at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21.
14. Dayvon Standard, Goodyear Desert Edge, jumps, Sr.
He came in second in the triple jump at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, hitting 47-11 to move up to No. 2 in the state and break the school record.
15. Troy Haymore, ALA Queen Creek, mid-distance, Jr.
He came in second in the 800 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, running 1:53.24 to move up to No. 2 in the state.
16. Roman Oliver, Chandler Hamilton, sprints, Fr.
He ran 21.81 in the 200 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, No. 4 overall in Arizona and No. 4 in the nation for freshmen.
17. Alex Bland, Flagstaff, distance, Sr.
He came in second in the 1,600 at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, running 4:13.07 to move up to No. 2 in the state.
18. Mason Aughe, Chandler Basha, throws, Sr.
He came in second in the discus at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, throwing 174-4 for the No. 2 mark in the state.
19. Dash Wasson, Queen Creek, jumps, Sr.
He came in second in the pole vault at the Brooks Chandler Rotary Invitational on March 21, clearing 16-7 for the No. 2 mark in the state.
20. Ishmail Bangura, Tolleson, jumps, Sr.
He won the triple jump at the Truvillion Wimmer Twilight on March 20, hitting 47-3 to move up to No. 3 in the state.
