I’m watching the Titans/Falcons they said they have to delay the game for a virtual measurement. They specifically said there is no chips in the ball.

So how are they measuring virtually? Wasn’t the idea of this to save time? And be accurate? Yet the spot is still done manually by the Ref. So you can still get a bad spot.

The time it took for the virtual in the game took every bit as long as a manual measurement imo.

I just can't with it. When Baseball is out teching you, it's a whole problem

I haven't been a fan. There was a moment in the Seahawks game where they were life a fun yard short and the red held it for this process..... Why?? Completely broke up the game.

Had another that was short and they did the measurement to this specific number - then the ref took the ball to the center of the field and respotted the ball - so very exact.....

Hags looked good. we didnt get to see them play good on good. But even late, during scrub time...their coordinator as scheming guys open...and even the backup QB was firring dimes

Yeah, it's weird. On a Hawks board a poster says they've never been as discounted between their opinion and popular opinion.

I'm feeling the same

The offensive coaching is so much better.

They are also developing serious good vibes, like back in the early PC days - guys are competing hard and are completely three for each other. Love seeing starting defense going crazy because backup offensive players are making plays.

A lot can go into a season and the win/lose margins are slim and matchups matter, but I think it could be a fun year

It feels like someone made some tech and is trying to find a use for it. Sometimes old school is better than trying to reinvent the wheel. Was bringing out the chains really that big of a deal for how many times a game it happens? They sort of add a little bit of suspense.

Virtual measurements feel like they going to be ripe for abuse. Or at least claims of it. Just wait until one gives the Chiefs a first down when it looks like they were short in the playoffs or SB. The internet is going to catch on fire from that one. We already have the refs are fixing the games for them after every close call.

Honestly, can’t sleep on any of the teams in our division.

I’m watching the Colts Packers game and they just delayed it for another virtual measurement and it was taking so long that they went to freaking commercial smh

Announce teams are taking about it like it's the system they use in tennis for in/out calls.

That is almost instantaneous and aides what the makes eye can't always catch

Ball placement/spotting is inexact.

When they get a good read on were the spot should be, there is still play from placing it - this happens countless times per game.

Can be on a 15 play drive with 13 imprecise spots and then break it tech to measure lights on the next 2

My issue with spotting has always been more of the missed location - there is always play, but some are just too far forward or back - this is the stuff that gets challenged.

This technology does nothing about where the spot is, where the ball actually made it to or of the ref placed it accurately

It's purely a measurement system that so far hasn't shown any meaningful advantage over the chains

Agree fully.
And like DMC said..it removes the suspense of watching the chains stretch

OK now I’m watching the Colts and the Jets and unlike the two teams in my very first post where they specifically said there is no chip in the ball. This announcer just said that there is a chip in the ball so WTF can we get a confirmation on this? Smh cause clearly the announcers aren’t being given the same information.

Not to mention, it took almost a good two minutes to come up with a decision on if it was a first or not smh

He actually played the full season last year but was dinged at times. Sounds like not a huge deal but they're pretty vague on what it is

They do this in the Premier League. In the games I have seen it in the Premier League, it is very fast. Hopefully, ours will evolve to be that good.

Maybe they need to hire some guys.
If they can afford to pay officials 250k for a part time job they can afford to out bid the premier league for guys who can make the tech work
