I loved Dunn as a rookie. Are we sure he's not going to take the next step this year? I hate it when we deal a player ready to burst, like that guy we sent to Dallas (Michael Finley), but that was maybe to get Nash back? [It was to get Kidd.] But yes, with Peat and Fleming, Dunn might be the odd man out. He needs minutes.
It's like gardening. Sometimes you have to pull perfectly good sprouts to give others room to develop. I just hope we can get some return for Dunn. I was a big fan of his to begin with. Honestly, I would be fine with the forwards we have and not do the Bridges deal.

IDK, I will be depressed if Peat, Maluach, and Fleming don't get regular minutes this season. Even 10-15 a game. Otherwise, unless Miles Bridges is a complete game changer and we are reeling off wins, I'm going to start to tune out. You have to give young guys some minutes so they can measure themselves, and start developing confidence they can play in the league. IDK, I listen to podcasts and they say the 240 minutes we have to allocate per game, and the guys like Booker, Green, Bridges, Brooks, Williams, Goodwin, Gillespie, Kennard, Oso, Highsmith, etc., are going to garner, it almost mathematically eliminates the young guys.
Sure but they should earn minutes they haven’t proven anything yet. We love the potential but they need to work to get good enough to take minutes from other. Then we are going to improve.

Exactly.

The competition will be great for the PF position. We have a starting quality PF fighting for a contract, and two young dynamic PF's in Fleming and Peate trying to take his job.

It would be nice to see Fleming step it up in summer league.

If Koa and Man finish summer league the way they started, they should definitely earn a real shot at early season minutes.

I thought Fleming played well the first game. Hopefully he gets back on track tonight.

Having watched most every game U of A played this year. There are things to love about Koa, as well as some things that concern me.
Despite having a nice mid range Jumper, his free throws were frustrating to watch. 65% isn't going to cut it for a physical player. he can draw fouls and even finish most of them. But he leaves a lot of points on the floor.
He can bang on the boards when he chooses to but Arizona did have 2 other dominant rebounders that made it easy to think he didn't have to. the thing I loved was he never shrank in big moments and in Big games.
Defensively is a little tricky, when Arizona would turn up the heat they all rotated very well as a team, he had good hands at stripping or poking the ball away after contact. he was not as always quick with his foot work, but sometimes he did, so the potential is there. personally I would of liked to see them take Henri Veesaar as I thought we could of used another Center that can play at both ends and rebounds well.
and BTW Burries was there best player this year, Bradley was the most important.

Here's a question for you guys. We did not draft Haliburton when he fell in the first round. Koa Peat, he fell and 29 other teams passed on him, but we got him. Is Peat our Haliburton?

Dunn has low bball IQ, I have no faith in him at this point.
You might be right but he has better handles then Flemming and Man Man and he can hit the three. Needs to show defense and Dillon and Bridges could be traded. That's the world that would be ideal but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think that Peat is a skilled young F, he is more athletic than you think at first sight (although the comparisons to Shawn Marion are too optimistic) but I still have doubts about the smoothness of his transition into the NBA game.

That’s NOT Dunn’s problem.
haters are gonna hate but i don't get the dunn hate - he was on two of our top 5 most effective defensive line ups

dunn went from a college system to a drunk system to a ott system all in the span of 3 years - with all 3 systems being completely different

this will be dunn's first time playing for the same coach two years in a row (in quite some time)

dunn's got the defense - if he can sit in the corner and hit the 3 he's golden - if not fleming is coming for his spot

think about if you're koa peat

you're sitting there on draft night - falling - a lot of people said you'd go in the top 20 but most everybody said you'd go in the first round

you start revisiting the combine and thinking about all the haters online - he can't shoot - he's not ready - he wasn't the reason

then you get drafted with the last pick - then you get traded to the phoenix suns - who you grew up watching

you remember watching them just last year thinking they just needed a power foward who could drive - not just drive a but who has a cdl

life's a trip man

I think he will be better than Marion
Come on, man. I’m not even that big of a Shawn Marion honk, but this statement bewilders me. Marion was a consistent 20/10 guy in his prime who made 4 All-Star teams and was even good enough to make multiple ALL-NBA teams. And you think Koa will not only be as good as Marion, but BETTER?

A resume better than Marion’s would make Koa one of the league’s superstars. That doesn’t seem very realistic.

Peat is of a different type from Marion's. References for him should be the likes of Aaron Gordon, Randle, Harris, Anunoby, Miles Bridges who can make plays from the PF position as rookie. He has the tools to be the best of these group.

If you disregard his FT issue and a lack of outside shot. He must add that to compete with those players listed. Not sure Peat is as physical as Randle, but I like Peat. I think we got a steal.

I just hope he doesn't take the "how to deal with referees" class from Devin. He is a VERY physical player, the kind we've never really had. It won't happen right away but if he can "earn" Giannis kind of respect from the refs, he could maybe even be a superstar in a few years. If he takes referee relations lessons from Devin though, they might foul him out while the lineups are being read. But regardless, without a time machine to drag the NBA back to the 80's, he's going to need to improve that outside shot.

I loved Marion but he was not a superstar. Koa has the inside game already and it will only get better. I believe in the kid . He will become a good three point shooter I have no doubt.

Cool that you guys are so high on Peat. It can make for a fun season to have yet another kid to cheer for and watch grow. Go Suns!

Yeah but some of us were really high on Dunn too at one time so we'll just have to wait and see. I think his floor is higher than Dunn's and he clearly has a coveted NBA skill but he's probably going to be a foul magnet for a while so that might limit his minutes.

These comparisons are funny to me. Koa looks great but he is a LONG WAY from being considered the best of this group.

The best NBA comparison is right under our noses. His game is almost exactly like Miles Bridges.
