Either Gallen needs to go to AAA or he needs to go to the bullpen.

He has over 5 years of MLB service, so he would have to consent to being sent down. He won't. I would put him in the bullpen.

Where? No one wanted him last year. We have to pay him regardless. Maybe the pen?

Bullpen for mop up duty only. When you are a starter in MLB with a 6+ ERA, you are not a MLB starter - except of course on Torey's Dbacks - where loyalty to cagey veterans trumps winning games.

Best we can hope for is he builds on his post 1st inning performance from last night. Unfortunately even after the first he still seemed a little wobbly to me.

His next three starts before the deadline should be the Dodgers, Athletics and Pirates.

Looks like Zac will be going on the injured list.

The IL stint we all knew was coming. Hand him over to whomever fixed Pfaadt
Do you think it’s actually him being stubborn? I mean, if he has an actual injury, it would make sense why he’s having issues with velocity and command. Doesn’t help the team this year, but it would make way more sense if he has a major elbow injury rather than he just doesn’t know how to pitch anymore.

He is a serial shaking off the catcher. He basically calls his own game.

His velocity has been the same for the last three years. Right about 93.5. What I see is he gets ahead in the count and nibbles going for the strikeout rather than just throwing strikes. Then he tosses a meatball in 2-2 or 3-2 counts

He hasn't been injured for a season and a half now. He hasn't been great during any of that time. He's nibbling way too much and not following his catcher. I sound like a Weenus now. ;) For the bit he pitched decently last year he as following what McCann called. That had him moving in the right direction but he's back to not following along this year.

Torey Lovullo on Zac Gallen:

"I think we're gonna let things calm down and rest. It's gonna be at least be 15 days. I know Zac is scratching to get back. He wants to help us win games. Timeline? I don't know. I'll get a chance to talk to him once we get back to Phoenix."
