It’s not just about the pick though. It’s the team’s cheap MO that doesn’t allow me to give them the benefit of the doubt. The reality is the team is historically cheap… and that’s not ancient history. We’ve repeatedly and recently been dragged as one of the worst franchises as far as facilities, players perks, how their families are treated, ranking close to dead last in the league, not to mention sitting on oodles of cap room for three straight seasons. So right now, in a new era with more guaranteed money given to second rounders, and with us amongst the last team to sign ours, this current and perpetually cheap organization doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt from me.
All valid points but again I ask when was the last time we screwed with draft picks.
Yes MB is ranked as the worst owner and the facilities are 3rd rate. I'm not as upset about the cap space because a solid argument can be made for Monti's approach on the rebuild.
This is the season where we will see if the plan was for sustainable success or Mike mostly being cheap.
I know you hope I'm more right than wrong so let's both root for that.

No 47: TE Terrance Ferguson, on a four-year $9,713,466 contract, including $8,046,753 guaranteed

No. 47: Will Johnson Remains unsigned

No. 48: OT Aireontae Ersery: 4-year, $9.2 million deal (unknown guaranteed)

I’m still saying $9.5M with $7.5 guaranteed get’s r done!
Yeah, theyre arguing over pennies at this point. Just sign the damn deal and let's go

again, the second round contracts are different this year, with more guarantees so past performance on draft picks aren't the end all be all to show they deserve the benefit of the doubt. The system has changed slightly and so this is a bit of a different animal to get these 2nd rounder signed.

As far as I know his knee is fine and has been cleared medically? He just might have a 6 to 7 year career instead of a 10 to 12 year career due to it?
Right. My point was basically he has a limited NFL career ahead of him, by most accounts...so call his bluff and let him waste a year back at Michigan.

Wake up Monti or you'll be the last guy

Not a good look IMO

That's being reactive instead of proactive

here's my take - i don't know if it's us being cheap, but the the team doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt to put the doubt on the player at this point. that's all.

Cardinals second-round pick Will Johnson is expected to sign his rookie contract before training camp begins, multiple sources tell me. It could possibly happen as soon as tomorrow.Johnson is one of three second-round picks who are still unsigned. Arizona’s first day of training camp is Wednesday. Johnson will have to sign his deal in order to participate in his first NFL training camp. Unlike OTAs and minicamp, rookies can’t sign waivers to take the field for camp. They need to be signed.

Good to read this

But again waiting until the last moment is not a good look

Then if it doesn't get done then he's missing valuable days of camp

The look doesn’t matter signed is signed as long as it’s before training camp. Everything else is just noise and completely irrelevant.

I thought the team was having an afternoon practice on Tuesday?

And that is an absolutely fair opinion.

But where is the respect for posters that doesn’t share that view?

Over what is complete chump change in the grand scheme of things?

I know it's the end of the off-season, thank God, and there has been almost nothing to talk about, but this is truly Much Ado About Nothing. Once upon a time there were REAL rookie contract disputes and holdouts. Other than a very rare situation like the Bengals and Stewart, it's just not the same and never will be.

Just because I can’t believe people still give the Bidwills the benefit of the doubt doesn’t mean I don’t respect them. I just don’t understand why posters keep doing it.

Look… if you want to keep pushing this “taking things out of my ass” and “disrespecting” posters because we’ve gone at it a couple times, more power to you. I’ve barely posted here for months and no desire to get in a fight with you no matter how much you seem to want to provoke one.

Seems totally likely the agent advised him to wait until the guys around him sign so the outline of the contract is done before they ever start negotiations.
Seems to be the M.O. for 2nd round picks every year.
Not really an issue for me..the overall dollars are already set anyway...rather dude gets 50k or 100k guaranteed in year 4 is more an issue to the agent or a player that can't make the roster... I don't think Monti will nickel and dime them since the parameters are now set. Dude will be signed before TC starts
Not a GOOD agent. A GOOD agent doesn’t want other agents and players setting the market for their player. A GOOD agent wants to SET the market.

and the pile on continues. now the guy who everyone was elated we picked and penciled in as immediate starter is now apparently bluffing (despite zero evidence showing this) and his bad knee is now a problem that was otherwise glossed over before.
I get we are Cardinals fans. But for goodness sake we are CARDINALS FANS. Better than anyone else in the world we know the depths of what this organization is capable of, and consistently guilty of, and STILL posters go to bat for the poor organization over a player about which they know nothing. It’s hilarious.

Not looking for a fight at all. Not trying to provoke.

But I am replying in the same tone when other posters are attacked for their view and for drawing their conclusions, when you then make up conclusions yourself.

All good.

Right. None of us know what’s really happening. All we really know:

Cardinals history: cheap and not a top flight organization

Johnson: played cornerback at Michigan and was disappointed to drop to second round.

I know which way the logic would point while we are all GUESSING where fault MAY lay.
