The UFC light heavyweight division is desperate for new and interesting talent – and Muhammad Saidov may be capable of filling that void.
Saidov (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) shined in his octagon debut Saturday at UFC Fight Night 282 with a dominant striking showcase against streaking veteran Dustin Jacoby (22-10-1 MMA, 10-7-1 UFC) en route to a TKO finish at the 4:49 mark of Round 2 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
After putting it on Jacoby on the feet for nearly two full rounds, Saidov dropped his opponent with a head kick then put on relentless striking pressure until the referee had seen enough and waved it off. Check out the replay of the finish below (via X):
After the fight, the 30-year-old made it clear he is not here just to be another guy at 205 pounds. He has big goals, and his destruction of Jacoby was just a sliver of his capabilities.
"I'll show you performances like this all the time," Saidov told Daniel Cormier through an interpreter during their post-fight interview. "Listen up: This was a short-notice fight for me. I didn't think about anything. I just wanted to come out and show a great fight. This is just the beginning. I want to show that I'm here for a reason, that I belong here. We'll see what happens next."
