Ty Simpson had a total of 40 passing attempts before this season. What are you on about? He almost literally only played one year.

Anthony Richardson had more college passing attempts than Simpson had the year before his final season.

Simpson spent three years standing on the sidelines watching better players ball out and then getting in for an average of three passing attempts a game.

Yeah...they count starts.
But that ain't the only time a guy gets reps..
In truth...coming in during the second quarter can be tougher and in some ways better experience.
Coaches often tend to reverting to a "safer" gameplan when the backup comes in and that can make it more predictable for the defense.

By numbers (number of starts) Ty Simpson would have to be the huge exception to the rule that has decades of data to back up that these inexperienced QBs just don't work out in the NFL. Is Simpson that special, once in a generation kind of guy? Haha, no. That's my opinion. The problem is, there's no arguing the data. Unless he is literally the super special exception to the rule, he's going to fail.

Is your argument truly that Ty Simpson should be considered as having as much or more experience than Patrick Mahomes because Simpson rode pine for three years, accumulating fewer than 100 passing attempts over that period?

I've shown data and logic to put across my opinion. There is some data and logic on the other side--his accuracy, etc--but the hand ringing and bending over backwards to excuse his shortcomings is something else. I mean, I get it--we're desperate for a QBOF. I can understand the desire to cling onto the hope. For me, history isn't kind to Simpson's chances.

Simpson has reached his ceiling and people are going to be sorely disappointed in this dude.

I watched 3 of Grudens QB class videos this week. I know it doesn't really show any of the QBs in a truly negative light but I came away liking Ty Simpson and to a lesser extent Carson Beck quite a bit, their personalities showed through and they both seemed genuine and smart. Diego Pavia on the other hand came across like a guy I wouldn't want anywhere near my team.
