Dan Orlovsky likes Simpson over Mendoza. While I don’t completely agree, it’s an interesting take.
Yes it’s a gamble but should the Cardinals take him at #3?
If you want me to murder the entire Cards FO, then yes. Wait, don't answer that...

I think there’s a big difference between thinking Simpson might be the guy and taking him at 3. I know it hurts if you drop and your target gets grabbed but it causes real damage if he turns out not to be the guy and you missed out on useful players.

Simpson at #3. I lose my mind and hope for the best.

Simpson at #10-12 after a trade down where they pick up an extra 2026 pick + a 2027 premium pick. Ehh -- hope for the best

Simpson at #26 after a trade up. Ok

Simpson at #34. Hurray!.

I would not be a fan and I would cite this type of draft narrative as the stuff people should avoid. Also one reason I think "draft narratives" as a whole are mostly uninformed.

The Browns makes zero sense with 3 QBs already and the Dolphin think Willis is the guy.

That top 30 visit definitely adds more smoke to the Cardinals / Ty Simpson fire. Yikes. Not sure how to feel about this.

All the QBs in this class likely do nothing in the league. I think even Mendoza has lower odds of success than any recent #1 pick.

If I was to pick a guy that I think has the skill set to succeed it's Nussmeier. I could see him at the Rams sat behind Stafford and think he goes higher than predicted. But overall it's a high risk class that I'd avoid with anything but a day roll of the dice on a day 3 pick.

Kurt Warner gives his impression of the QBs in this draft. Most of his comments about Simpson begin at 10 mintues in.

If you think Simpson can 'be the guy,' why putz around and do trade-downs and trade-ups that will expose him to other teams? The need factor at QB is greater than any other consideration. So, trying to fudge around with 'value' considerations when it comes to QB and the place you take him is a 'pennywise and pound foolish' calculation.

It is not as if the Cards have a stellar record of top draft picks. Also, it is unknown where we are going to be in next year's draft order. Take him at #3 or expose his availability to other QB-needy teams? Just take him with your #3 pick if you think he has a chance---we earned the luxury of being that high in the draft order. We'll probably be there again next year as it is.

Sooo, to summarize: take Simpson because the cards are stupid
the cards are stupid when they draft
and, who cares because the cards will suck no matter what and we'll do it all over again next year.....I'm guessing April Fools is over :(

Summary -

Kurt likes his ability to process, layering throws, handling pressure and mobility i.e. boot legs in the Shanahan and McVay scheme.

Big questions are experince and time to develop. He needs more time to grow.
