"Expert" is relative..
I had Mendoza ranked QB1 for this draft 18 months ago.
Am I an expert?? I don't get paid, so I'm certainly not a "professional ' ... but i been studying, scouting, coaching, and/or playing football for over 50 years...and if you ask anybody around my job/family/neighborhood...they would certainly agree that I am in fact an expert.
IMHO we have a few "experts" around ASFN. It's the main reason the board is even remotely appealing.
Harry, once a "professional " ... Chopper, not a professional..but regularly drops concise, well informed player analysis and is head and shoulders above 80% of the Twitter *****...and lots of them get paid.
K9 compiles data sets with the best of them.
DVontel has a high hit rate on players he targets and brings well informed breakdowns.

Anyway, expert is a subjective term. We have experts. Just kinda light on professionals.
Keep in mind...the "experts" here at asfn are the ONLY ones that are not click farming when they post a breakdown...and many of them know that controversy drives engagement...increases clicks...and gets guys raises.
I mean..look at Stephen A Smith... dude is an idiot.
Maybe 3 people in each state ever agree with him. But their website absolutely blows up with all the folks jumping in there to express which particular breed of moron they believe him to be...lots of engagement equals job security..for right or wrong

I wouldn't get too excited by what either of these two talking heads say. Tannenbaum (one of the worst GMs E V E R) and Orlovsky will say pretty much anything to have someone listen to them or get clicks to seem relevant. Didn't Orlovsky play for the '08 Lions (0-16)? "One-year starters rarely “boom” so he’ll need a patient staff and a clear developmental roadmap to fill in the missing pieces," NFL analyst Lance Zierlein writes.
Simpson has a "favorable foundation," one where he is "mechanically sound from a footwork and release perspective." But Simpson's "timing and anticipation remain works in progress," paired with "average" arm talent and velocity.

What I hope people understand is that this is a projection opinion predicated on all of these players continuing to improve. If they they produce as they did in 2025, it will not be a historic draft.

Agree that we have some very knowledgable people on this Board. Additionally if you follow Cal-Berkley where Mendoza attended you would know he was going to be good at Indiana. I have a good friend that has been a season ticket holder at Cal-Berekley for over 50 years and he told me that Mendoza was outstanding. He also told me the same about Aaron Rodgers when he was at Cal. It's these guys on ESPN and other sports shows that are basically clueless.

Rodgers,... I felt bad for him...he was one the back end of Jeff Tedford QB's that went pro...he slid because every previous Tedford QB failed pretty badly...NFL teams were certain the skillset to run that offense just didn't transfer to the pro game.Good stuff.
But you can't always guage "IT" ...and Rodgers had it...or maybe sitting alone in the green room being humiliated installed it...
San Francisco made a huge error in judgement, lol..or maybe not. It's very possible that humiliation followed by having to sit behind an unfriendly Favre who wasn't keen on some youngster taking his job just Tempered "IT" in Rodgers...maybe had he gone #1 to the Niners as expected he would have fizzled out like every Tedford QB before him.
Alex Smith wasn't a waste...but he surely didn't rate #1 overall

I agree. I am not saying he can do it, but being able to get in the ear of Monti to have him acquire the right pieces is a way around him. Gannon did a little of that with FA. I think Gannon was the only reason the Cardinals lands Sweat. Monti has the charisma of a paper bag and seems to be bad at negotiating.

This how I feel. If you don’t have the right QB you must keep drafting QBs until you hit. I’m all in on Simpson I don’t want him at 3 but a trade back to 7-10 I’d do it. If it works your golden if it doesn’t you should have a high draft pick next year.
