Heard the same; they said his interview was great. His ability to identify defensive alignments have impressed many. He’ll need a line, but he’s interesting and would be much cheaper than Willis. That’s assuming they trade down and take him.

I think 12 is the lowest we can go down and for sure get him….the rams could take him at 13

I keep hearing he’s a second round prospect or a third round prospect. None of that actually matters. If he’s who you think is a franchise quarterback, you take him at 3. Logically speaking - if your team is actually run by competent football people (debatable), and you believe wholesale this is a franchise quarterback, the most valuable position on the field, you take him immediately. If you don’t, and your projection was correct that he’s a franchise quarterback, other teams are not going to let you take him. He will simply be drafted before you can get to him.

If we draft him at 3 and no other team would have touched him until round 2, then it was probably a reach. If another team was going to take him in the first round, then it was probably a good pick. If he turns into a franchise QB in 5 years, no one is going to say “well we shouldn’t have taken him at 3 because it was a reach.”

If the Cardinals truly believe he’s a franchise QB, they either take him at #3 or trade down in the top 5-10 and take him there. If they believe he’s a franchise QB, and they’re competent, meaning other competent clubs see the same thing, he doesn’t make it to #34. He won’t even make it to 12 or 15.

That doesn’t mean I’d take him, but it does lay out the logical reason why the team would spend their first on him. Having said all that, the draft is a crapshoot and these are prospects after all. If you really think your franchise QB is on the board, it would be silly to draft anyone else. I’d love to draft Bailey in the first and Simpson in the second or something like that, but that sounds much more draftnik talk than reality.

Simpson's going in the first round because he has potential and is in a weak QB class. In a different class, he's probably a 2nd-3rd round pick. in 2013, EJ Manuel was picked in the first round and he was a second round talent at best, but desperation kicked in for the Bills.

I dont care for Simpson as a prospect, but given the dire straits we're in for QB play, it's worth the risk to either trade back from 3 and/or trade back into the first round to pick him. It's not an endorsement of his play, but we kinda have nothing at the moment

they say all qb's are crap shoots but all i saw was a crap sandwich - if he was injured and/or still needs work he should've stayed in schoil but he didn't because crap sandwiches won't be as valuable come 2027

thank you for coming to my crap talk

I have this weird vision in my head of the Cards taking Love at 3 and then Simpson at 34. And then all the sudden having this young core of triplets with Love, Simpson, and Harrison like the 90’s Cowboys. Throw Trey McBride on top of that and how are they not insanely good?

Oh yeah that Cardinals curse so it will never happen.

We won’t ever get him if we don’t take him at 3 or trade down not past 12 as others have said

Living up to your name, huh?
So, what comes next? I'm rubber and you're glue....
I asked a question about how a player going to the rams is decade long impactful player, but that same player goes to the cardinals is most likely a bust? I was just curious. I wasn't trying to be an a-hole....just some dumb guy ;)

The Rams have a competent front office and the Cards have the Bidwills.

Ugh, just typing it out hurts.

Can I get a justification for drafting this guy that isn't "If you think he's your guy, you draft him"?

Great size? No

Great arm? No

Speed? No

Accuracy? eeeeeh... no

Stats? Nope

Produces in big games? No... horrifically bad.

Can he beat out Jalen Milroe for a starting job? No

Where on earth is the logic for taking this guy in the 1st outside of pure desperation in a year without quality QB prospects?

Harrison is in Love and a Simp for his future McBride?

It's absolutely not worth the risk. We take Simpson, and then when we suck ass and are actually in a position to draft a QB, we won't take him because we're riding with 15-start Simpson. It also extends Monti's tenure. Then a year or two later we start all over again with a new coaching staff and GM.

Great size?
Sure, but just enough.
Great arm?
Good arm.
Not an athletic demon, but he has wheels to him.
Accuracy?
Yes, especially MOF, where it’s crucial in the league.
Yes, especially considering his running game was non-existent.
Produces in big games?
Who cares? Anyone remembering Mahomes producing in those *big* games in college? Josh Allen? Drake Maye? What is a big game to you? Playoffs?

Joe Burrow lost to Dwayne Haskins.

Joe Burrow lost to Dwayne Haskins.

None of this translates to the stats or the tape.

Dude was surrounded by 5 star recruits and somehow his teammates let him down... I just don't see it.

Jam Miller, their top running back, was averaging over 5 yards per carry prior to this season. With Ty under center he averaged 3.9... did the running backs fail Ty or did the opposition load the box because Ty is a nobody at QB?

And yeah, some of those other guys didn't put up stats in big games because they didn't play in big games because of the school they were at. Ty Simpson, in his one year, played at the premier school in the country, had several games to show his worth and he was absolute dog crap in those moments.

This is a dude you take a flier on in the 3rd ROUND (or later). Taking him with the 3rd pick is insanity.
