At present, the Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting on just $4.2 million in salary cap space. This is among the worst in the league. This is due in large part to just how top-heavy the roster is in terms of salary. Allocation for the Top 51 salaries is $304.25 million and of that, almost $166 million is being paid to just seven players. These seven players are also the only players on the roster with cap hits over $10 million.
Here are the seven biggest cap hits on the team.
Seeing five of the top seven on defense is no surprise and definitely a carryover from the Mike Tomlin era, when everything was about building a defense to cover for the offense. With some huge free-agency decisions on the horizon, it will be important to come back to this list and the position the Steelers front office has put this team in.
