And you could! I think the idea is for real competition in camp and a young, high-variance alternative to when you confirm Brissett can’t take you where you need to go (8 wins).

Zack Wilson, Anthony Richardson, JJ McCarthy, and Trey Lance are very, very unlikely to be good. But I’d rather put a small bet on their upside than run with Brissett and Kedon Slovis, who has no NFL future.
No thanks to all 4 of those guys especially the last 3.

Agree.
But sometimes a guy has to have nothing to lose in order to bring out his best.
The real win is just unloading kylers deal and getting "something" in return. Even if it's just a longshot chance
Yeah, but the NFL really tests whether a player REALLY wants it. This is a guy who hasn't even shown the minimum "want to". He's missed a lot of games and even subbed himself out on a third down, which is obviously exceedingly weird for a QB to do.

Let the player show you who he is through his actions. Murray showed us who he was, and as doo doo as Murray has been, Richardson hasn't even sniffed Murray's jock.

It must be extremely satisfying to sit and critique without offering an alternative theory.
I'm just using the Kerouacian method that I have observed over the past two decades. The Kerouacian method entails letting other people actually craft ideas and then mercilessly mocking and laughing at their posts. It's quite satisfying actually.

Crazy enough, I think I might make a play for Cousins, you know, a guy who has actual good game tape in the NFL. It's not likely to work, but you do have Brissett. Cousins' bad games are better than the Hydra of Sucky QB's (Levis, Wilson, Lance, and Richardson) best games.

I’ve been putting this theory forward for weeks. I think Cousins-Brissett represents the best possibility to maximize wins in 2026 but provides very little upside beyond (there’s a small chance Jacoby transforms into Geno Smith, 2021-2025 edition).

If you don’t believe that players with talent can improve with coaching, more power to you. I think there’s a small chance one or more of these guys aren’t maxed out. I think it might be fun to have a likely five-win season and find out than have a likely seven-win season with Cousins and Brissett.

We're gonna be wary of Darnold next season, because he just lost the dude that kept him from going full Darnold in any game all year.
I dunno, two years, two different coaching staffs, two years of success including Super Bowl champ.

I just don't think there is really any upside to those guys.

But I doubt the Cardinals actually bring in Cousins and probably bring in someone like Levis who is pretty much in the Skelton class of QBs, a player that if you smoke a lot of hopium and squint a little, you can convince yourself he has a future.

I think the best case scenario is that Simpson falls the end of the first round and the Cardinals trade up to get him and they roll with Brissett, Simpson, and maybe one of your dwarves.

You never know what can happen. Didn't Case Keenum lead a team to very good record and playoffs.

I think there's also a chance the Cards sign Geno Smith hoping they can recover the 21-25 edition.

He went 11-3 after Bradford went down with an absolutely stacked offense. The Broncos threw almost $40 million at him the next season to go 6-10. We are the 6-10 team here.

I'm not a big JJ fan either but at least you're getting a young guy that has played some and showed a couple flashes in limited time. The Vikes had to see something in him to let Darnold walk after leading them to the playoffs and a great record the previous year.
Didn't they fire the guy who made that call?

I didn't watch much of him last year, but he looked a lot like the guys the Cards were trotting out there pre-Palmer/post-Warner.

If Darnold was his own reason for success, he'd have been good on the Jets. our org is WAAAAAAAY to similar to them for him to have been good in AZ.
The best pass catcher he ever played with on the Jets was Robbie Chosen. I personally believe he just got better, he's easily a top half of the league QB. He was certainly the reason the Seahawks got to the Superbowl.

25/36 for 347 and 3 TDs in a tight game against the Rams in the NFC Championship. The Seahawks had so little respect for the Patriots offense in the superbowl that they ran the most conservative offense imaginable.

Last offseason I thought Darnold was a mirage because the Vikings decided to not resign him. If Darnold wasnt just a system guy then surely they would keep him right? It turns out KOC wanted to resign Darnold/trade McCarthy, and the GM refused because he didn't want to admit he made a mistake in the draft.
