Timberwolves' Mike Conley reveals retirement plans after season-ending loss originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Mike Conley put together a solid playoff performance after an odd season.
His year was so weird that the Minnesota Timberwolves traded him away at the deadline, but then he was cut loose and signed back in Minnesota. He's a veteran, experienced point guard, but he also lost his starting job at the beginning of the season and is clearly not the player he once was.
With that in mind, the question came up after Minnesota's season ended as to whether Conley will retire.
He's not planning on it. This is what The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski reported Saturday:
Mike Conley says he does plan to play another season. Says the way he played in the playoffs proved to him he can still do it.

Conley will turn 39 years old in October, and he has played 18 seasons in the NBA.
In the regular season this year, he appeared in 54 games and had 4.5 points and 2.9 assists per game. He shot 33.7% from 3-point range and 90.0% from the foul line.
In the playoffs, Conley actually got five starts, in part because of Donte DiVincenczo getting hurt. He averaged 4.4 points and 2.7 assists per game in the postseason.
The lefty Conley isn't going to play much no matter where he ends up for the 2026-27 season, but it seems Conley is planning on getting a uniform and wearing it for at least another season in the NBA.
