Once again, the Newcastle transfer staff are failing Howe miserably. Glad to see his insistence of getting new first team players in by preseason has gone wanting. And word is that transfers are still difficult, for some reason. Yeah, the Mitchell fiasco and lack of back office resolution is CRUSHING this transfer window and threatening the season already. freaking idiotic.

Longstaff really had to go. He was blocked from starting, out of contract next summer, and as a good Geordie lad, wanted the team to recoup something from him leaving. He goes along with my best wishes.

*Sigh* In a window where a lot of reinforcements are required, due to CL soccer and the last 3 barren windows, Newcastle have a completely discombobulated and bare bones transfer staff. Just what the doctor ordered :(

Big one tonight against Liverfool. From Klopp's absurdist rantings to their tampering with Isak, the Reds are a hated rival. It would be sweet justice to get another W against them. Though I would definitely settle for a draw :)

Howe-way the lads!

Newcastle pulls off a blinder signing Nick Woltemade. Very solid signing. Still, the circumstances have not changed for Isak. Newcastle need to get another striker in before he can leave. That may happen, as Wolves are bringing in a new striker.

Newcastle probably deserved all 3 points. The ref had a horrendous game. Missed both red cards (although the Antony was sent to the monitor) Konate should have been sent off for the 2nd yellow as well. Lots more to talk about, but more interested in below...

This signing wrecks their PSR. I don't see how they can not sell Isak now. They already had to do some financial gymnastics last year to not get sanctioned.

Only paying $108k/week wages for Woltemade is a pretty good deal. Isak only getting $125 with the way he performed, no wonder he wanted out. With that said, they probably will still get a Wissa or someone else.

I'd wager a a decent chunk of cash that the Liverpool deal is done with a reported 130m offer, no matter if a 2nd striker is signed or not.

The ref did have a bad game, and Newcastle were the better side, but it doesn't matter--all they had to do was not concede at the end. Ah well. It's a funny old game sometime. I think it's the second game of the season where, had Isak been in the lineup, they win. Would have had a few goals earlier in the 1st half. That makes it 5 points Isak has cost the team, by my count. Leeds? The team weren't good enough there and I don't think Isak makes enough of a difference there.

The Woltemade signing doesn't even come close to wrecking their PSR. They could spend probably 150 mill more and not have it wreck their PSR. Your misconception is completely understandable, though, as it's a nonsensical system created solely to eliminate competition at the top of the table. PSR goes through 3-year cycles. This year began a new 3-year cycle. It's all wiped clean. Newcastle are incredibly healthy under PSR. The sale of Longstaff makes them even stronger, as he was home grown. Factor in that they haven't signed anyone of note in ages, and they're doing great with PSR. Which is good, because they still need more players lol

As of now, Isak stays. Wissa is trying to really push through a move, though, so who knows. It would be crazy if Newcastle sign Wissa, Liverfool doesn't stump up the cash for Isak, and he stays and Newcastle have THREE good strikers. Madness!

You know, I was getting over Isak being such a dick. Then we get his statement after joining Liverfool, and not a single word of thanks to the fans, let alone any hint of remorse at his actions. The dude breaks his leg? I'll not say a single word of sympathy. He was a legend, and regardless of how he left, he should have shown some class once the deal was done. A true mercenary.

Now reports are coming out that Isak was trying to tank Newcastle's CL qualification because it would make it hard to demand he be sold. Apparently after winning the trophy, he had achieved all he wanted to at Newcastle and began to sulk, stop working hard, etc. What an effing dirtball. Yeah, nothing like the Wissa situation in the slightest.

I hope you don't really agree with this statement. Despite the owners, they aren't a free flowing spending team like others in the league. If they didn't sell Isak, it would have wrecked their PSR. Sure they would have had time to adjust, but they would have been way behind the 8-ball.
