I understand the sentiment, I really do.

But, damn, we played Seattle one hell of a lot tougher than THAT display by Washington. And if Zay Jones doesn't drop the last pass we win the 49ers game.

But, yeah, those games were our chance to have a good season and we blew it. We are unlikely to be better next time.

What can we learn though? Seattle looked at their qb and decided he had limited upside so they want and got someone else. So did the rams when they traded for Stafford. When you know the guy is not the guy you gotta move on.
1000x THIS.

Yeah it’s bad luck we play in the NFC West. It’s just a powerhouse of a division, even in the “down years”.

Tom Brady collected 6 automatic wins for like 15 straight years playing the hopeless Dolphins, Jets, and Bills. That division was trash for soooo long.

The NFC West winner last year went 10-7. Monti missed his chance to steal a division title.

Sure. They also have more NFC Championship game appearances than any other division. That’s not just all time. Since 2002 they also have the most NFC Championship appearances.

This division historically has good teams.

Look at Denver too.
Think Payton knew what he was doing when he chose them over us?

Why don’t other teams have to go through 4 year rebuilding plans?
Man we got duped in the first half of last year.
Because that's not how the modern NFL works, if you have a competent GM and ownership. We don't. That's why all those people happy with a 3-year rebuild (how'd that work out?) getting pissy with me and others for saying that isn't a thing were full of it. Where's all their self-righteousness now?

I honestly miss Keim.. at least he tried. The great Monti rebuild has shown squat -

- Has he had better FA signings? Absolutely not.
- Has he drafted better? Kiem sucked, but he did nail a star in round 2 w McBride. Who has Monti nailed? No one.
- Trades? Monti is too patriot way to do anything relevant here.

here is what frustrates me:

three / four years ago -- the primary problem in playing the other teams in the division was that the Cards were getting dominated on both sides on the line of scrimmage.

all the teams in the division have turned over nearly 100% their offensive / defensive lines in the last 4 years.

yet it feels like the situation is the same.

not good from a guy (Monti) who says he has a "win at the line of scrimmage" philosophy. Not good from a team that didnt have to go find a QB during that time.
