Questionable now that he had a bad finals.

I think Holmgren's stats are good in the Finals considering he only turned 23 May 1st.

He had four double figure games against the Pacers.

OKC's big 3 compliment each other so well and seem to be true friends. I don't believe ego's will break that team up like it did with Russ, KD, and Harden. Shai is the leader but he's not overbearing and JDub and Chet seem to have his back entirely. If they can continue building around those 3 with guys like Dort, Caruso, Joe, and Hartenstein then they'll be leading the pack for years to come. Crazy how young they are and they've already won 68 regular season games, a championship, and set an NBA record for point differential through a season. They are finding their way and if they really are able to get the best from their big 3 at the same time then they'll be a big 3 on par with Magic, Worthy, and Kareem.

The potential for the Thunder to sustain it, hurts even more.

14 firsts in the next 7 years with a current championship and top three players under contract long term is absolutely amazing. They has to endure a lot of losing but man are they set up like no other team I can ever recall.

Maybe. On paper, their future certainly looks good. But it's also a different era than the 1980s, and there are a lot more challenges to putting and keeping together a long term dynasty, particularly in the sport of basketball.

Add in the fact that OKC is not a great sports media market, and their not especially supportive ownership situation, and that even the league itself might soon be working against their sustained success. It will be interesting to see how successful they can be for just how long.

James Jones did not really like the draft I think. Presti loves it.

That's probably the most impressive thing. They only had 2 down seasons bridging the Russ/PG era to the Shai era.

I've seen this statement made many times over the past few seasons, and it's really unfair. Jones was given a team that already had its core players. His mission was to fill out a championship-ready team with ready to play role players. It's fair to argue if he did that or not. However, until Jones is GM of a rebuilding team, a comparison to Presti is not fair.

BTW, Presti had no choice but to build through the draft. OKC is not an attractive location, nor does it have an owner with endless pockets. It was never likely that they could recruit a top-level FA, leaving the draft as the only viable option to build a contender.

That’s pretty impressive. I think it felt like longer because that 40-42 year was just a year removed from 17 more wins and two years removed from 28 more wins.

They were willing to trade players when they had the most value, not trade FOR them when they had the most value.

We really probably should be trading Book now or next summer. Load up with picks and young players.

Absolutely should be, but it's not happening. Maybe next offseason depending on how the year goes.

Yup. They saw they were going nowhere with Paul George and sold him when his value was high. Faced with an even bleaker scenario with Booker, who a) isn’t as good as George was and b) on a team with ZERO assets moving forward, we decided to double down on Booker in a move of absolute stupidity.

Seems like hindsight there, they lost in round 1: before they acquired him, with him, and after him.

I just think they won a lot trades. They also took on negative assets along with picks, kind of like like what memphis had to do by trading Bane.

One thing that might make a difference - I think the kid absolutely loves basketball and absolutely loves competing.

I think he'll put in the work.
There is just an "it" factor about him. He has the confidence that Booker and Amare had when coming into the league. But there is a level of humility and leadership as well. You can see it in the way that older teammates talk about him.

We’re still talking about Chet, right? You think Chet has Booker/Amare level confidence they did when hit the floor? I think he can be a much better player but I don’t see those attitude comps at all.
