Two Tennessee track and field athletes set indoor records on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee.
Lady Vols' distance specialist Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka, competing in her first indoor individual event, finished the women's one-mile run in 4:41.85, to break a freshman program record in the event. Her time is also the eighth fastest mark in Tennessee history.
In the men's 3,000-meter, the Vols had sub-eight minute performances and all times are top 10 marks in program history. Sophomore Ethan Edgeworth recorded a time of 7:52.17, ranking third in program history. Sophomore Zouhair Redouane posted a time of 7:56.27 and freshman Nelson Mapi Satek completed the race in 7:55.37, breaking the previous program freshman record set by Mike Griffin (8:08.18).
Other Tennessee athletes to achieve personal best marks on Saturday include: Cade Gray (men's 60-meter dash, 6.89 seconds); Tula Fawbush (women's mile run, 4:49.91); Andie-Marie Jones (women's 3,000-meter run, 9:21.31); Nia Clatworthy (women's 3,000-meter run, 9:21.81); Jaci Sievers (women's 3,000-meter run, 9:30.21) and Haley Loewe (women's 3,000-meter run, 9:41.09).
