We can debate about the draft and trades, but the Suns walked away with a highly rated 18-year-old center and a 23-year-old center on draft night.

Stepping back for a moment, that's a good haul.
We needed to get bigger, younger, and more athletic. Between getting Green and Brooks, now these two centers, we got younger, bigger and more athletic. Even if Brooks is a bit older, he's still younger than KD.

We are going to be running this next season!

Right. I get it. I just view Williams as higher % than 5%. He’s already proven he can play. It’s just what his health will allow. And I think that’s higher than 5%.
If he was an equivalent PF I would be happy with the deal - but there is only one center spot, so we can't get full usage out of him. That is the problem. Now if he tears it up and we end up trading him in 2 years for 2 better firsts in the long run this will work out I suppose.

I'm not sure why some are fretting so much.

The second round hasn't even taken place and there is free agency to fill needs.

My focus now turns to the contracts of Beal, Allen and O'Neale among others in regard to the second tax apron.

There are more deals to be made.

Someone on Suns.net quoted Brian Windhorst as saying that "Williams isn't healthy and won't be extended at the end of the season. The Suns get a starting center to take pressure off of Maluach while he develops and money off the books next summer."

Not sure how accurate that is, just reposting.

Well - you should ask yourself why is Charlotte so desperate to trade a 23 year old good center?

I think it's either his personality is a problem, or his health is a problem, otherwise they should be building around him.
Why Charlotte ? Can't wait to hear the talking heads on the radio tomorrow here in Charlotte. When will the Suns resign Collin Gillespie.

The picks we traded might as well be 2nd rounders but... even so, I dunno about this guy. He is perpetually injured and the already dreadful Hornets were somehow worse when he played.

It feels like part of a bigger plan but not final by any means. Not sure what's going on at this point. His advanced stats are nice, but we didn't need another player to join Bradley Beal on the injured list.

The young guy has such a high motor. He's going to be a fan favorite like Bol Bol. He can really dunk. No wonder he shoots 71 percent around the basket. LOL.

This just goes to show, they really are serious about changing this team. We needed bigs, and they did that. Needed to get younger, bigger and more athletic and so far so good.

After Maluach, I dont get this move.

IMO, the Suns didn't think Maluach would fall to them at #10 and the trade for Mark Williams was all but completed.

Anyway, the Suns fixed the center position. Now they need to fix power forward in trade or free agency.

They will probably draft a point guard or two tomorrow and can bring back Gillespie if they so desire.

Yes, his advanced stats are impressive. Maybe he’s just had bad luck, but three years straight of missing half the season or more.. yikes.

Fair question. I think they’ve suffered so many injuries that they felt they had to cut bait on one of the oft injured players. We’ve seen firsthand what it’s like to have your best players be often injured.

He played the last part of the season this season. Didn’t they already lose ball and miller at that point? I would expect them to win zero games if that was the case.

“…two high upside centers…”

This was my point. Rolling cheap dice for high upside.
