Dude you’ve been lamenting how late first rounders are worthless when railing against the Durant trade - essentially dismissing all the ones with all the swaps attached. And now you won’t even acknowledge that they’re late. Won’t even use the word. I get you’re still (rightly) bug mad about the first kd trade and now the second kd trade. But you’re not being consistent in your positioning. You don’t get a guy with obvious nba talent like mark williams for a paltry 29th pick and likely late late 20tg pick unless there’s baggage. Particularly not a 23 year old. His baggage is his injury history. So the suns took two very low value assets and rolled the dice for something with potentially larger upside. As you’ve stated as nauseum, the suns don’t have a lot of assets and will likely suck forever. The only way to return to prominence sooner is hoping to hit a homerun. This is an attempt at a homerun swing. I’m okay with that.
Also, maluach is a project at present. A high ceiling project, but a project. Dude still has all his baby fat (look at his face in interviews - I was shocked how much baby fat he still has). If we have high hopes for him we shouldn’t be throwing him to the wolves. And in a best case scenario if we end up with two young legit 7 foot nba centers there are many worse things in the world to work out.
Worst case scenario we blew the 29th and a 20th pick in two years on swinging for a proven nba center that has injury history. No malachi Flynn, tyty Washington, Julian strawther, Isaiah collier, or Baylor sheierman. I don’t think we will survive those losses.
I’m being really cheeky here. Don’t mean to be offensive. But I think some reasonable context is important here.
