I strongly disagree. You are also not factoring in that Dunn is cost controlled for another 4 years at 2.5M, 2.8M, 5M, and 8M. That's 4 years of Dunn for less than 1 year of what Kuminga will cost.
I didn’t factor it in because we would also be unloading Grayson Allen and O’Neale hypothetically. I see it as a wash financially. My main point is Dunn should not be looked at as untouchable is all.

I like Dunn as much as the next guy but he shouldn’t be seen as untradeable . Kuminga is the same age and is probably close to what we hope Dunn becomes.
He should be seen as untradeable for Kuminga. I'm not doing that.

Big difference - Kuminga is viewed as having an attitude problem, and Dunn is the opposite of that. He will likely be better than Kuminga in the long run in my opinion.

Apparently it's just between us and the Kings. I don't know what the package they are offering is - but it can't be that good. Maybe we do have a chance.

But only young guy I would give them is Oso.

They have picks and we don't.

I wonder if Gambo is right and the Suns plan to start Jalen Green at point guard.

The plan it seems from the GM and the coach is they both will bring it up, whoever's open.

Gambo said today the Suns will likely be starting Green at PG not Booker. Gillespie will be the backup PG. Goodwin and Butler battling for 3rd PG spot.
Gambo added there's a battle for the third PG. One guy is guaranteed $25,000 and the other guy is ungauranteed. So whoever loses can be cut for basically no impact.

Arguably one guy will lose minutes in that scenario. Kuminga is an upgrade over Dunn, unless Dunn starts getting 15 points a game and has rock solid D.

Dunn takes the next step up, and he can get the Suns to forget about Kuminga.

No, absolutely no Dunn in any trade talks. The kid is already the best defender the Suns have had in 20 years, with all due respect to Mikal. He is also a passable shooter already, and has shown some ability to cut to the basket and score that way as well. Unless someone is offering a star in return, Dunn should not be available in trade talks.

I disagree. Dunn is already an amazing defensive player, and he has shown us that he can score a bit- at the very least, he is NOT the terrible shooter he was supposed to be. I actually like Kuminga, but between him and Dunn, I am going with Dunn.

As far as what I've heard, Kuminga is a minus defender and (worse) a minus rebounder. Yes, he's young and there may be room for improvement, and of course the Suns need all the young pieces they can get. But it makes zero sense to give up one of the few youngsters they have with upside for another one with potentially less upside.

20 years??
Damn, has Dan Majerle been retired that long?

Agree. Youth with promise trumps youth with problems

Some of these Dunn takes are wild. He’s an okay role player with a good motor. Maybe his defense and shooting improves but I agree that it’s pointless to give up a rookie with potential for an elite garbage man like Kuminga. The Suns are doing the right thing by just offering a bad contract like Grayson.

Yes, but apparently Kuminga wants to come here and not there.

He does have some leverage. He can threaten to sign the QO which effectively makes him an expiring contract with a no-trade clause which means the Warriors will have to deal with him in the locker room and will lose him for nothing after the season. That's a big risk for Kuminga too.

Hard to believe there was any thought that Green and Book wouldn't be sharing starting PG duties. Guys in this salary range are the guys.

The new FO is after depth, we see it with the centers (Richards is not going anywhere imo, as i have been saying all along), now we are seeing it play out with the PG's.
The PG role is a tertiary role for us, CG is solid with a lot of effort and heart but guys like Goodwin are just on another level as far as height, speed, strength and athleticism.

The biggest unknown is PF, which is something I see we are trying to shore up with Kuminga. Looks like it will take some to get some as they are trading that center depth for someone with more upside. Honestly I would like to see Flemming get his shot much like Dunn did last season, I can see why he would not; iffy summer league, small school, injury, too many unknowns. I do like that it is a "concrete" offer, this shows the new GM is more transparent, and more sure of his decisions by setting some boundaries.
