Payton struggles to go inside against Gobert. Almost everybody does except Jackson.

Halftime:

Jazz 50 - Suns 41

It's been mostly the Booker and Jackson show for the Suns.

I'm just tuning in. Is Booker playing some point or is that experiment over?

It seems like one player is always on but they are never on all together like tonight Booker and Jackson balling but TJ has like 1 point

Ingles flopping on that Booker shot. The referees didn't buy it.

Payton with the nice drive and finish.

He has 10 points and 11 assists.

One more rebound and Payton will have a triple double.

I hope the Suns realize that any NBA level PG would be playing close to the level Payton is come contract time and they don't overpay him. I'm a little worried about that. He's worth keeping around but at a fair rate, not based on the 20 and 10 he's averaging here.

What would you base it on? What does a good PG have to do to make you want to pay him?

I'd pay him based on his career stats, not just what he's done here in Phoenix. Pay the guy but if he were paid based on his average here over the last 3 games he'd be looking at close to max money since he's putting up numbers like John Wall or Chris Paul. He's worth the midlevel exception or around there.

We'll see how he does through the rest of the season but he'll only have around 25 games with the Suns, so paying him based on that stretch would be unwise since it's quite different than how he's played his first 3 and 1/2 years in the league.

I don't want the Suns overpay Payton but he is a 23 year old PG who looks to only get better.
