Man there’s just so little info on this guy. I just keep seeing “reputation for ‘offensive and defensive creativity, player development and communication," repeated over and over. Where does he hang his hat? What evidence of something he concocted or created can we look at to determine what we have?

Apparently he was books first choice, but I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

At least he’s not a retread. Would’ve liked for him to have had some signature element about him to look forward to. The Michigan state thing is a valid concern and even if ott ends up good makes ishbia look like a clown.

Here’s hoping it all works out. Won’t bag on the dude until we see what tricks he’s got in his arsenal.
agree. Because in the end, which one of us would have refused that NBA HC contract and the opportunities that could come with it?
If he fails its on the management.

im done with ish - nobody can save him from himself - team is now perpetually screwed - this was the last shred of evidence i needed - he clearly doesn't give a funk about hiring the best candidates - not for gm not for head coach - he has destroyed this team and has now destroyed all possible roads back to respectability - this ass clown makes sarver look like a savant - like a genius - it's about to be so bad a whole generation of possible suns fans won't watch - they'll grow up never having felt the magic or energy - and idc who disagrees with me either - ish sucks bad - this is bad the future is bad and im not sorry for saying it - this ain't my fault - we're not getting what we gave for kd - we're not getting anything for beal - nobody wants to come here - all logic suggests this year will be worst than last - mishigan freakin suns yay

My biggest concern at the moment, is Brian Gregory prepared to deal with trades, the draft and free agency?

That's a full plate and much more.
Come on, we all know he isn't. Zero experience.

I'm not going to get too worked up about this hire, even if he wouldn't have been my choice. The bigger issue is going to be what they do personnel wise over the off-season. If they don't get that right (and I'm highly skeptical they will), then whoever they hired today is merely academic and likely out in another year or two anyway.

The list of potential coaches I previously saw didn't seem too impressive. Did they pass on anyone, with a significantly better resume who wanted to be here?

If the plan is to move forward with Booker, his voice carries weight and should. If the Canidates are close, hire the guy Book wants.

We have a new coach and gm, let's see what they can get done.

The one thing I continually don’t get is radio guys saying “well, you gotta give Ish the benefit of the doubt”… uh…. Why? He got that after the KD trade… he may have even gotten that after the Vogel hire/fire… but after consecutive HC firings in back to back seasons, he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt.
I agree, cheese. If these new hires don't deliver it is 100 % on the owner. That is the only constant here. He went with inexperienced guys. Can't put the blame on them when it don't work out. Besides look at what they walk into. That roster stinks and they have dealt away their draft capital. Who did? Ish and James Jones.

Yeah, he's been an assistant coach since 2012. He may not be the best candidate in some (most) people's eyes, but it's not for lack of qualifications.
He wasn't even the most qualified candidate on the Cavs coaching staff.

i cringe/can't wait to see what piddly pile of poo-poo we get for KD.
Someone who many contenders absolutely can talk themselves into needing. Unfortunately we have a virtual unknown amongst NBA front offices in charge. At least this isn't one of the most important transition periods in Suns history!

The smart move here is to cash out, get a boatload of assets for Book and KD, and whomever else you can unload. (Greyson, etc). Unfortunately, we'll trade KD for peanuts, sign Book to a eye watering contract, and build a team going nowhere fighting for the play in. (if we're lucky)

Faaannnntastic.
