We're a bit small, but not more than normal. With Brooks, Williams, Oso, Fleming, and Goody (!) we're not that bad. Could maybe use a bit more length, but we're not getting killed on the inside as much as usual. Have to look up the stats on that.

On paper the Suns have size but when Brooks, in reality is the starting power forward, that's small.

Fleming is a player I wanted in the draft. I thought he was first round talent. My primary concern at this stage of his career is rebounding. He should get more rebounds due to his size alone. Maybe his concentration on making threes has put him out of position.
He tends to guard guys out on the perimeter away from the basket on defense.

Yes, the Suns ask their big men to play defense outside. I think he will get the hang of it.

Watching Fleming makes me think of Stix except their skills are kind of reversed at this stage.

Stix was a better inside player with the Suns but Fleming looks to have a better stroke from three.

His measurables are elite for a combo forward. Still 21 years old:

Sheer has all the physical tools to be an impact player, he just needs the reps. On defense he still needs to learn when to push up and when to be more conservative, and on offense he's still rushing his shot. Both should get better with more time on the court.

I am expecting a big jump in his play next year.

But I was expecting that with Dunn and it has not happened, so I could be wrong.

The same is also true for Dunn. Both need to be more calm on D and O, which comes with experience and learning from failures.

fleming's screens are becoming a thing - he's big enough to hold his spot and allows our center to hang out in the dunkers spot

other teams with big/fast power forwards have done this to us - cavs were super successful with it but with the big flemingo out on the perimeter it opens a lot up - especially if he can pick and roll or hit the 3

he got a little too aggressive on d again last night - sliding to help only to leave his man open leading to an easy dunk - i think fleming played more responsibly with the bench - focused more on doing less better

i knew the flemingo could shoot dunk and play defense - but if this kid gets a for real midrange going - forgetaboutit

Fleming has got it, plus all the tools. It's just a matter of time.

Dunn is showing signs of it as well. Oso is going to be a good role player for a long time.

i think we saw a break through last night with rasheer - the coaching is paying off - he's realizing it's just basketball and that he belongs - he can do everything we need him to

flemingos aren't born pink - they gotta eat - rasheer has been feasting in g-league - i think ye is partly there (in the g-league) to keep the flemingo fed

but ott values defense and responsibility more than he does production - he doesn't call timeott when we're missing shots - his breaking point is watching the other team score too easily

fleming played good defense last night - rotated on the perimeter instead of locking on - held his own on driving opponents - he helped with gillespie's and ye's assignments - he didn't collapse early or abandon his man - he waited oso style - i saw it more than once

im not worried about the offense - he's fine - im starting to understand why we didn't trade for a power - fleming might be it - that would mean we won't have to pay out the wazoo to get a power forward

that would mean better chances at keeping/paying everybody

size is not just height. Brooks is stout and plays strong. He plays bigger than a lot of players much taller than he is.

I love the way this Suns leadership group is now deliberately developing young players. We have been in win now mode for so long that we never took the time to do it. If you don't have picks, you have to get the most out of the players you have. Player development might be more important than places in the draft. I tend to think that a lot of NBA level talent has been wasted because teams have not had the patience to develop players.
