Guys were reluctant to drive the hole when Bol Bol was in and he wasn't a defensive stopper. I do agree size alone makes guys think about it more. Just want to see how he moves and thinks in summer league games to get an idea of what we are looking at. The Summer League games are also not good because guys play so wild there is no structure like an actual game. I'm looking for more about his instincts.

Bol Bol wasn't much of a shot blocker or a defensive deterrent, probably because he didn't have the physical build to play inside.

If Khaman takes a position down low, he should be able to hold it.

I, too, look at skills and ability as an indicator of what a player can do moreso than stats. Sometimes players call their own number in summer league.

I'd Khamen is communicating out there, calling defenses and switches, which is what a center is supposed to do, it's a pretty remarkable thing for an 18 year old. It takes a leaders mentality to walk onto a court where everyone is older than you and take charge.

safe to say fleming has leap frogged nhd on the depth chart - took about him about 28 or so games

what i like is his defense - on ball and rim protection - the 3s will come once the nerves settle but that defensive desire comes from within

Fleming has the athletic tools to play great D, but like Dunn, he lacks experience. They need to learn first hand from the vets in Brooks, Goodwin and RO.

I think Dunn has more basketball IQ, and is a really solid one on one defender, but is limited by an ugly shooting stroke and, by NBA standards, middling athletic talent. I like the guy, I think he's going to have a long NBA career as a solid defender and high IQ hustler guy.

While Fleming, physically, is a monster, he's really big, really long, he's also pretty quick and strong. He's raw on offense but he shot a good clip in college and got better year after year. I would love to see him get more and more playing time. He's gotta shoot better than he has so far if he is going to get a solid role, his college stats seem to indicate he has it in him.

So far his offense is going to the rim for offensive boards, and three point shots. He needs to learn to drive to the bucket and pick up a mid range shot of some kind. On his defense, he gets out of position sometimes on the floor, but those athletic blocked shots he makes are phenomenal. On defense he just needs confidence. Several time s this season guys have been dribbling to set up to go around him and that long reach just pokes the ball. away. You can tell by their reactions that these opposing players are surprised at his reach and quickness combination. This is the guy Brooks needs to pump up his confidence.

This guy has so much potential. Defensively he makes plays you just don't see out of 99% of other players.

But he still get's lost on Defense more than you would like, but he has gotten better.

I feel like we need to play him 10-15 minutes a game the rest of the season just to get him the experience.

that's what i like about our practices - they're intense and they continously show who is who on the pecking order

our vets put our rookies (and eachother) through the ringer in practice - they get tested - if it's too uncomfortable for them that's too bad but fleming is gaining confidence on both sides of the court

I am not sure what you are talking about. Dunn is the better athlete and he is above average for an NBA player, and his shooting stroke is not ugly. It isn't going in as much as it should, but it isn't his shot form.

Dunn is actually just as tall if not taller than Fleming, but Fleming has him beat on wingspan. Dunn is the much better jumper, but Fleming is quicker.

I still think they both have great potential, but I will admit I was expecting more from Dunn than he has delivered so far this season.

Dunn is a 6'7" 216 SF. We have several guys that size who can play SF, Brooks is a far superior SF. Dunn will likely never see minutes once Green returns.

Fleming is 6'9" 240, and fills our most pressing need, a bigger PF.

Fleming is a player I wanted in the draft. I thought he was first round talent. My primary concern at this stage of his career is rebounding. He should get more rebounds due to his size alone. Maybe his concentration on making threes has put him out of position.

idk - with ott (atleast so far) it's never been about the size of the dog in the fight - maybe the size of the brain of the dog in the fight

Play em both, Dunn and Fleming. Right now there is enough minutes for both, I think.

That’s because this roster is limited not much size

We're a bit small, but not more than normal. With Brooks, Williams, Oso, Fleming, and Goody (!) we're not that bad. Could maybe use a bit more length, but we're not getting killed on the inside as much as usual. Have to look up the stats on that.
