Somerset County's R.J. Dallape, Carley Awtey, Casey Fleegle win at Jennerstown Speedway

JENNERSTOWN — The Jennerstown Speedway 2-day vintage car jamboree, which was the largest on the East Coast, wrapped up July 19 with 5-division racing action.

In the opener, Cameron Ruggles collected his sixth win of the season in the Somerset Trust Fast & Furious 4s. It was a caution-filled race, including a hard crash by Bradley Marsh in Turn 2 with nine laps to go.

Johnathan Haburcsak and Ruggles restarted on the front row. Ruggles quickly took control on the restart and rolled to the win. Haburcsak finished second and Seth Nedrow took third.

Ruggles has a 46-point lead over Nedrow in the points standings.

Jenners driver Carley Awtey picked up win three in the Integrity Coatings Charger division. She started on the pole and led every lap of the feature, fending off Brian Ready and Nick Niemiec.

Ready sits just 15 points behind division leader Ken Burkholder in the season-long points race. Awtey and Niemiec are the only two drivers in the division with more than one triumph this year.

Boswell's R.J. Dallape earned his second Martella's Pharmacies Late Model victory. He distanced himself from the field and bested Will Hemminger and Jarred Barclay.

Hemminger came on in the latter stages of the race, passing both Barry Awtey and Barclay.

Awtey holds an 8-point lead over Dallape and a 16-point advantage over Barclay in the division standings. The trio each have two wins this season.

Veteran Chris Brink won for the first time since 2023. He checked out from the field with 12 to go following a caution to claim the 20-lap One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock feature. Josh Dunmyer finished second, and Adam Kostelnik grabbed third.

Brink took the 2024 racing season off and spent some time in the press box calling the action at Jennerstown. He returned this season and sits fifth in points.

Dunmyer is 35 points ahead of Brent Bickerstaff in the standings.

Casey Fleegle wrapped up the night with his second Ron's Collision Center Street Stock victory. The Friedens driver started on the poll and cruised to the win.

Fleegle took the points lead from Rick Meehleib with a win in the feature as well as his heat race. Meehleib, who is now two points behind Fleegle, finished second while John Fama claimed third.

The Ohio Wheelman Series invades Jennerstown, July 26. A 50-lap late model feature will also be contested. The pro stocks, modifieds, chargers, 4-cylinders and Crown Vic Northeast series will all be in action.
