ATHENS — Carson Beck’s swagger is very real, to the extent Kirby Smart recognizes and understands the degree of value to it.

“He’s ‘Mr. Mellow’ out there; the guys in the locker room love him because he’s confident, calm and very smart,” Smart said in an exclusive interview granted to ESPN reporter Chris Low last week.

“Even though he’s got a little bit of arrogance to him, he’s not holier than thou like you see with some quarterbacks.”

ATHENS — Carson Beck said his decision to acquire a Lamborghini after his return to Georgia was negotiated is “not a big deal” in his opinion.

Beck, a projected 2025 NFL first-round draft pick and the Heisman Trophy co-favorite, said it’s as simple as his love of cars and isn’t too concerned about what critics might say.

“I love cars, and I got a car, that’s really all it is,” Beck said at Georgia’s opening spring football press conference on Tuesday, asked about having an exotic vehicle worth more than a quarter of a million dollars.

Carson Beck is no different than what you guys describe Kyler as. You guys just did not pay attention to his college career to believe so.

Not even close we know what K1 has shown and it's not good enough. We don't know what the future holds for Beck. I doubt he amounts to anything but there's hope, something we didn't have with K1.

Sometimes it's not about talent...it's about fit...See: Warner, Kurt or Dilfer, Trent or Purdy, Brock...None of those guys would ever be confused with their more talented contemporaries, but they all just fit with the teams they played for and two of them won a Super Bowl.
