I remember one time, not that long ago, where they drafted who everyone thought would be the QB of the future. Look how that turned out.

Pretty sure mgmt. will find a way to screw it up again.

I bet this thread gets bumped if Freeman plays good with Minnesota.

At this point, with what I have seen out of our current QB play, I would welcome Freeman with open arms. Could it be worse? We aren't going anywhere with this team and worst case scenario he at least helps us retain a better draft pick.

Stop this nonsense. Freeman blows. We need to keep drafting QB's EVERY year until we get our guy. You can't win without one! BTW, Arians blows too. Only the Cardinals would hire a 60 yr old who has really never been a HC before. Other than a 2 week stretch, Pagano was running that team behind the scenes. The sooner he's gone, the sooner we can TRY to find a real HC. God, we're a cursed franchise!

So you'd rather thow Palmer's corpse out there the rest of the season, than take the chance that Freeman might resurrect his career at the ripe age of 25.

Got it.

What career? You mean the 1 season where he was good? He's terrible & mentally not into improving his craft, bottom line. Palmer isn't anything more than average either, but he's still got more skins on the wall & is still a better QB than Freeman.

You completely ignore the fact that he's a young qb, and up until the beginning of this season, one that many thought was in line for a big extension. Did he just suddenly become terrible?

Do you put no weight at all in the fact he has the worst coaching situation in the NFL?

Again, I'm not predicting QBOTF out of him, or even competence, but when you have Palmer, a guy who's going nowhere and is 100% not the QBOTF, what is the harm?

It may not be the worst coaching situation in the NFL, cause we have our issues in our own back yard that can get worse each week given the unevenness between the O & D so I'm not throwing stones at Tampa when we have issues in our own back yard. Btw, Freeman was a big part of what went wrong in Tampa :p

I'm far from an NFL genius, so I'm just throwing my feeling & thoughts out there. From the rumors I've heard & read, Freeman has issues not worth the gamble regardless of his age. We would've solved nothing signing Freeman IMO

Again, Freeman was a big part of what went wrong in Tampa IMO...buyer beware. Have you ever heard of a guy named Vince young? ;)

Not sure if Palmer is any better, but Freeman is not better enough to take the chance.

Again, gotta find a next-level talent. Freeman isn't it. A street FA isn't it. Find it through the draft and this discussion is over for 8-10 years.

This is NOT a bash against Josh at all BUT he is taking medicine for an attention deficit disorder of some kind. To me THAT is a huge risk to take when evaluating a QB's abilities. I don't know how severe the problem is but I think it would be a concern.

The most cerebral position, franchise QB, needs someone with FOCUS and quick processing in the heat of battle. Josh had issues with his coach, who is by all accounts a HUGE ******* and missed meetings and the team photo to get out of Dodge. If he came here and the losses kept coming would he flake out? Certainly another valid concern IMO.

Josh has all the physical abilities in the world but I think the problem is between his ears (maybe through no fault of his own). I don't think he is the QBOF for any team.

Also, for $3 million for the rest of the season absolutely no way.

We need to make a bold move and trade future picks to move up in the draft and get one (if not the best) QB available in this years draft. The other option would be to trade down and aquire as may picks as possible to build the underbelly of the team and get your QB in the 2015 draft.

Seriously? How do you know he can't be a long term solution? Granted, it's not likely that he turns into a star, but where is the risk? The chance that Palmer suddenly stops sucking, as he has in every game?

Again, nobody is calling him a savior or necessarily a solution. He would have cost nothing, and there is at least a small chance he could be salvaged as an NFL starter. We certainly have nobody on the roster with that potential and draft picks are no guarantee either.

If he's awful, draft someone, simple solution. There is no excuse for us to have no interest in Freeman.

Freeman is not the answer.

Time to stop digging through the bargain bin for QBs and get one fresh off the shelf.

This. For our entire stay in Arizona, with the exceptions of one year of Lomax, one year of Rosenbach, and the Plummer years it's been one journeyman QB after another. Let's lists them shall we?

Gary Hogeboom
Tom Tupa
Stan Gelbaugh
Chris Chandler
Steve Beuerlein
Jay Schroeder
Jim McMahon
Dave Krieg
Boomer Esiason
Kent Graham
Stoney Case
Dave Brown
Jeff Blake
Josh McClown(who for some reason is still employed in this league)
Shaun King
John Navarre
Tim Hasselback
Matt Leenert
Kurt Warner
Derek Anderson
Max Hall
John Skelton
Kevin Kolb
Brian Hoyer
Ryan Lindley
Carson Palmer

No team is ever going to be successful with running through QB's like this. Also, look at every Super Bowl champion and tell me how many teams have won it all with a QB they got off of the scrap heap and not with one they drafted and developed. I count 4: Jim Plunkett, Kurt Warner, Rob Johnson, Trent Dilfer(Drew Brees doesn't count as he was an upper tier QB when he was traded to NO). The latter 2 ended up SB winning QB's more because of their team's defense. Anyhoo, the moral of the story is in order to be a championship football team you need to draft and develop a QB.

Can we wait on Freeman. Watched quite a bit of the Buc/Falcon game today. I liked Glennon before the draft and really like him now. Freeman might have actually gotten beaten out by Glennon. Freeman is going to play rent a QB for a team now with a shortage of skill players. Hell, I would take Ponder over Freeman, if he was available next year.

Having ADHD, especially medically treated, doesn't hinder one's ability to play football. As someone who's worked in the past with athletes who suffer from mental impairments, I've seen athletes overcome more debilitating psychological disorders and play lights out. There are hundreds of NFL players who are diagnosed (or could be diagnosed) with some sort of mental issue (more commonly Generalized Anxiety Disorder), but because of the stigma that follows those with mental disorders, that information remains confidential. Brandon Marshall is the poster child for how someone with a severe mental disorder (Borderline Personality Disorder), can excel in the league despite a "problem between the ears."

Alex Smith is managing games in KC quite well. He was there for the picking and we picked the guy who lobs int after int

If we had taken Smith instead, Palmer would be the one prospering somewhere else and Smith would be struggling. Its just what happens to the Cardinals. We have a patchwork offensive line. We have had injuries on the line for two years. We are just going to have to continually draft line help or get better coaching, and eventually draft a young QB.

I am sure you are correct and there are some (not sure if there are "hundreds") in the NFL who have some sort of mental issue. I have two brothers who have far more severe mental issues that ADHD , Generalized Anxiety Disorder or Borderline Personality Disorder. I was just mentioning a possibility on why some teams may be not interested.

I certainly didn't mean to demean or offend you or anyone who has any problems in that area. If I did I am truly sorry.

Bottom line, 3 mil of CAP space for Freeman is silly.

The first part is my thinking too.

We have to hope the Giants get the #1 pick because I doubt there's not an offer big enough to be made that can wrest the #1 pick away from Jacksonville.

The other hope, which I suspect is doubtful, is that Jax really likes a lower rated QB, tries to get cute and take Clowney at #1, while hoping to the lower rated QB, like Carr, at the top of round 2. Matter of fact, I'm going to sell that idea hard over the Holiday dinners coming up :D.

That would leave Bridgewater open for trades and, even then, Cleveland has alot more ammo to move into position of drafting him.

They were talking about him on ESPN 2 this morning, I missed the beginning so I don't know which NFL person they were quoting but in essence they said if you consider how incredibly rare it is for a kid his age to get released the next year after throwing 27 TD passes and over 4000 yards, you'd get a better idea of why teams were unwilling to deal for him.

Everyone knew how incredibly rare it was, and there HAD to be some reason TB was dumping him.

Jaworski said his film study shows his release was unwarranted, but they released him anyways. Which is why everyone is convinced it was other stuff, personality issues, leadership issues, the belief that he just doesn't have the right mental makeup.

Will be interesting to watch, the Falcons once thought that about Brett Favre, but it's very rare that a kid this age is given up on by an NFL team.

Yeah, better to keep the powder dry and continue to trot Palmer out there for a couple picks and horrendous play than to see if Freeman can play.

Smart strategy.

One game may not be the best indication-- but Freeman doesn't look good. Not even in flashes.

The game overall is awful. Mike Tirico just said one of the more honest things I have heard: ugh! This has been just a terrible quarter of football.
