There are still 2000 tickets to be sold by today for Sunday's game to be broadcast over TV (locally). FM 92.3 will carry the game if all else fails.

Hurricane ike is supposed to cause heavy rains and high winds in Austin Saturday so now to be safe I'm going to have to spend $500 extra to fly out Friday instead.

Good to see that raising the ticket prices worked out for them.

Didn't the Cardinals game have better ratings then Sunday Night football and Monday night football in Phoenix?

I doubt the TV-execs are not going to buy the rest of the tix.

It is not like they will get better ratings with infomercials.

It will sell out. Someone will pick up the remainder and donate to charity or whatever.

The Dolphins returned most of their ticket allotment so that is why it is not sold out yet. All their fans here must be in hiding.

When some outfit says they will buy the remaining tickets does that mean they buy whatever was not sold after the game,or do they take possession of all the unsolds from when they commit to doing it?

Regardless of whether or not this game sells out ,the NFL needs to do away with its ridiculous blackout policy. No other sports league has a similar policy and it absolutely cripples struggling teams abilities to build a young fan base. All of my friends are sports fans, and while we all say we're Cards fans, they're pretty far down on the list after the Suns, ASU, the D'backs, and even the 'Yotes. Why? Because growing up, the NFL told me I wasn't allowed to watch my home team on TV. When I was 12 I didn't have the money to buy a ticket, and I couldn't drive to Gila Bend to watch the game on satellite. So a lot of people my age (24) instead of adopting the Cards opted to cheer for teams they could actually watch and follow like Pittsburgh or Dallas.

The only thing the local blackout does is punish young local fans who should be the building blocks of the franchises future revenue streams/fan base. Its ridiculous and ought to be abolished sooner rather than later.

Respectfully, I disagree although your argument about how it cuts off young fans is excellent. My first strong sports memory is coming home from little league to see the shot heard round the world in 76. Its the first time I understood how the home team could set a city on fire and why sports could make time stand still. If it hadn't been for free tv, I would have missed the whole thing. Years later when the greedheaded suns put their playoffs games on pay-per-view, they lost all my respect and they've never managed to earn it back. To me that was overreaching on a level where they deserved to lose their fans.

That said I still feel the blackout policy is essentially fair. In NFL unlike NBA and MLB, you only have 8 home games. The way NFL set up you almost can't ever afford to lose any of them. They are all huge. You aren't paying to see some game like with the Suns or Dbacks where there's a good chance it will be a mostly forgotten game. I feel like its not too much to ask that those 8 games be sold out before they are given away for free. I think its a fair deal. Much of the time I don't agree with what the organization does. Raising ticket prices this year in the cheap seats was absolutely boneheaded in my decision. I think rock bottom prices for your seats that are going to be empty anyhow if you don't win, was the way to build up your home advantage and your fan base. But I think the black out policy is generally a fair deal. I hope we sell out anyway.

There is absolutely zero data that shows that the threat of a blackout increases ticket sales. If anything the blackout turns off a community. See the Chicago Blackhawks. It definitely hurt the Cardinals over the years.

I think the telling sign here that there is no way this game will be blacked out is the fact that the game last week was number 1 in the PHX market. CBS will eat these tickets up. They won't miss out on those ratings for this week. No way.

2000 isn't that bad whats the average price?

That's 150k they make that up shortly after kickoff in commercials.

I think you're right but they'll of course take all the time they can get to get the figure down as low as possible.

I think the blackout policy is totally counter-intuituve. I mean, how can the threat of a blackout actually sell more tickets when whoever buys the ticket isn't going to watching the game on TV anyway? Unless it's just a way to pressure companies and networks into making up the difference. But for the average fan, less exposure cannot possibly mean more revenue.

Well that ends our sellout streak in my mind. Being bought up by corporate or for charity doesnt count. AZ fans suck.

Pretty sure that has already happened once during our sellout streak.

Im pretty sure it hasent. In fact the Cards publicly announced that the stadium was sold out prior to the start of the season the last two years. Im almost 100% posotive on that.
