If that is a honest question, he had a lot of options. He could have bailed on Kyler when he took the job despite the cap hit. He had a lot of HC options to choose from. He didn't have to roll over cap dollars year after year.

Now if the counter is that you feel Monti has been a Bidwill puppet this entire time, that's ok but I don't think it lets him skate on accountability.

To be fair 2025 was the first season that Monti and the Cards could have reasonably moved on from Kyler. If Murray was jettisoned in either 2023 or 2024 it would have created a dead money cap hit of $80-$85 million dollars. Getting rid of Murray in 2025 still would have been a $45-$50 million cap hit, so 2026 is probably the first year that it was practical to cut Kyler.

Considering Monti's the GM, I don't feel bad that he didn't have "his own guy in the pocket" when he agreed to keep Kyler. He CHOSE not to have his own guy in the pocket. The fault lies there.
