I know, right? First Harry, then Gandhi, K9* slipped in a couple and now chop...like I said, this is going to be a good year!!

*K9 is currently in AZFN lockup and word on the street is, his nickname is Honeybuns...but actual percentages of this being true are not available right now.

Oh, I'm gonna be in so much trouble for that...LOL
I can confirm alcohol was involved in this posting.
I just may be joining him, I'll let ya know ;)
K9 going full Durant with burner ASFN accounts would be magic.

It's a rebuild so patience is a virtue at this point. Paying K1 boo coo bucks to be on another team is crazy. Could've kept him for one more year at least he was fun to watch sometimes.
Year one, year two, patience can be asked for. Monti gets zero patience by now. I know it's his second rebuild, but no.

Monti inherited a set of problems. His second HC already? Nothing we can do except watch
It's all on Monti. Even if he's handcuffed by cheapo Bidwill, he knew that going in. Being on his second HC is a negative, not a positive. It's his fault Gannon didn't work out because he backed the wrong horse.

Monti is definitely on the hot seat. Come draft time next year might have someone new.

What options did Monti have exactly?

If that is a honest question, he had a lot of options. He could have bailed on Kyler when he took the job despite the cap hit. He had a lot of HC options to choose from. He didn't have to roll over cap dollars year after year.

Now if the counter is that you feel Monti has been a Bidwill puppet this entire time, that's ok but I don't think it lets him skate on accountability.

Short answer no.

Long answer no, let the kid sit and learn. Zero reason to trott this kid out in the first 3/4 of the season.

He does need to play though this season and should get a majority of snaps in preseason as well.

What would you have done differently?

People have answers but don't understand a problem
ANSWERS?? Stop this insanity! If we had answers, there would be no questions. With no questions, there would be no interest. With no interest, there would be no cardinals. With no cardinals, there would be no Love. And we're looking for Love in all the wrong places...LOL

This is my nightmare. He doesn't start, we suck again, and Monti comes out with this "He'll be ready next season because he needed a season to learn" nonsense as we pass on drafting a QBOTF.
Agree I just don’t see that being a real scenario

To be fair 2025 was the first season that Monti and the Cards could have reasonably moved on from Kyler. If Murray was jettisoned in either 2023 or 2024 it would have created a dead money cap hit of $80-$85 million dollars. Getting rid of Murray in 2025 still would have been a $45-$50 million cap hit, so 2026 is probably the first year that it was practical to cut Kyler.

That was never true. The Dolphins just did a version of this Tua. It would have been unprecedented at the time but would it wouldn't have ended much wore than the roster the Cardinals rolled out in 2023 anyways. They also could have tried to trade Kyler before his value 100% tanked as well. If the argument was that he was injured...they could have traded him or cut him in 2024.

All of that would have been preferable to where the Cardinals are now.

Let's all just be glad that he and that awful contract are both gone. Wish it could have happened sooner to give Gannon and Monti their own guy in the pocket, but it was what it was. Meh.

Considering Monti's the GM, I don't feel bad that he didn't have "his own guy in the pocket" when he agreed to keep Kyler. He CHOSE not to have his own guy in the pocket. The fault lies there.

Question that I don't know the answer to, how many GMs have hired 2 head coaches within 4 years? Without outside forces. Just based on performance.

Not sure but I would think the Jets could be in the running. Maybe the Raiders.
