The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp take their first road trip of 2026, heading northward to meet the Norfolk Tides in the second full week of International League baseball. Here's what fans need to know.
Who: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Norfolk Tides.
When: April 7-12.
Where: Harbor Park Stadium, Norfolk, Va.
Series recap: After dropping the first four games against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Jumbo Shrimp bounced back over the weekend to salvage the last two games. For Jacksonville (3-6), the culprit is batting: While Jumbo Shrimp pitchers have 110 strikeouts, most in the International League, hitters have turned in a league-worst .164 average with 27 runs and a .557 team OPS.
Highlight: Bats came to life April 4 when Jacob Berry, the hero of the Triple-A championship game last September, delivered a tie-breaking three-run home run that put the Jumbo Shrimp on course for a 4-1 win over the Space Cowboys.
Crustacean sensation: Back from an injury that cost him the 2025 season, Braxton Garrett is on fire on the mound. He struck out eight in 4 2/3 innings on April 4, the start of a combined two-hit shutout against the Space Cowboys, dropping his season ERA to 0.96.
On deck: Norfolk, Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, holds the same record (3-6) and some of the same early problems as the Jumbo Shrimp. The Tides are hitting .240 and have struck out 92 times, second-most in the IL. Former Florida Gators slugger Jud Fabian is among Norfolk's players, as is former No. 1 overall draft pick Jackson Holliday, currently on a rehab assignment for a hand fracture.
Probable pitchers Tuesday: Jacksonville's Ryan Gusto (0-1, 5.40) against a Norfolk pitcher to be determined.
