After the All-Star break, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp return to the road to face the Rochester Red Wings in the Empire State. Here's what fans need to know about the next Triple-A baseball series.

Who: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Rochester Red Wings.

When: Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19.

  • F: 6:45 p.m.
  • SA: 6:45 p.m.
  • SU: 5:05 p.m.

Where: ESL Ballpark, Rochester, N.Y.

Series recap: The Jumbo Shrimp won the scoring battle but lost in the big picture to the Durham Bulls, outscoring the opponents 38-32 for the five-game series but winning only once after four one-run losses. The series leaves Jacksonville at 8-9, tied for sixth in the International League East and 5 1/2 games behind first-place Durham.

Highlight: The Jumbo Shrimp trailed 2-0 in the fourth inning on July 8 when Deyvison De Los Santos bashed a two-run home run, sparking a surge of 12 unanswered runs to down Durham 12-2.

Crustacean sensation: There might not be a pitcher in Triple-A more dominant over the past two months than Braxton Garrett, unbeaten since the start of June. In his last six starts, Garrett's numbers are off the charts: 4-0 with an 0.52 ERA, 20 hits, eight walks and 38 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings. Opponents have batted .167 against him since June 1.

On deck: The Red Wings, Triple-A affiliates of the Washington Nationals, are among several teams huddled around the middle of the pack in the International League second half. Their active includes two of the top 10 Nationals prospects as rated by MLB.com, pitcher Luis Perales and catcher Harry Ford.

Probable pitchers Friday: To be announced.
