From the moment the Boston Celtics were eliminated from the 2026 NBA playoffs, the rumor mill has been in full swing. Jaylen Brown has been the primary target of those discussions, with speculation linking him to a trade away from the Celtics, especially if it means getting Giannis Antetokounmpo in return.
Trading Brown would certainly be a bold move by Brad Stevens. Boston has a proven track record with Brown and Jayson Tatum as the franchise's best players. We know they can win a championship together when they're surrounded by high-level talents. For that reason, parting with Brown may not be what's in the Celtics' best interests this summer.
During a recent episode of "The Celtics Chronicle Podcast," Adam Taylor and Billy Calabrese discussed how the Celtics can improve the current rotation without parting ways with Brown. They looked at the different styles of bigs Boston could target, and whether a new starting-caliber point guard was a necessity, along with who that guard could be. The duo also broke down why keeping Brown could be the smarter play for Stevens and the Celtics organization.
