The Boston Celtics may be kicking the tires about trading star forward Jaylen Brown to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo. But that does not mean that they are trying to offload the Cal alum to other ball clubs, either, according to recent reporting from ESPN's Shams Charania on an episode of the "Pat McAfee Show."

"Everyone around the league is going to be talking about this," said Charania, alluding to a potentially fraught scenario should the trade for the Greek Freak not go down for the Celtics. "If this deal does not get done for the Celtics, what is the future of Jaylen Brown?"

"The thing the Celtics do have though, and Jaylen Brown knows this, is he's got multiple years left on his deal," he added, referencing the two seasons beyond the upcoming NBA season Boston has him under contract.

"To my knowledge, they're not shopping Jaylen Brown," suggested Charania. "This is a very specific situation. This is now twice in four years where the Celtics have offered Jaylen Brown in a major trade for a future Hall of Famer. In 2022, they offered him as well as other pieces for Kevin Durant."

That latter situation did appear to irk Brown at the time, and understandably. But we have also heard reports that the Georgia native is open to leaving the team that drafted him in 2016 elsewhere. With a self-imposed deadline to trade Giannis, the Bucks may well settle what will actually happen soon. But what comes afterward regardless of the trade itself also matters to Boston – with or without Brown on the team.
